My daughter is a year and 8 months old and I STILL peel grapes for her. Am I nuts?
I can't be talked out of cutting them in half but is peeling them too mental of me?

I never peeled them. My daughter is 12 months old and she eats them with the peel on. I just wash it vigorously and cut into 4 pieces or sometimes 8 pieces dependingon the size. sometimes I wash with salt

hehe i tried peeling them once but got so frustrated because he eats so fast!
i've just been slicing them into really thin rounds (ex. a green grape into 5 slices) and they go down easy!
LO is 11 months.

So I *AM* mental! LOL!
@mrbee: I peel them because I thought the peel was too rough or too hard to chew in contrast to the softer, juicier texture of the grape itself.
Okay, I'm not going to peel them anymore.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's like, "You PEEL them???" Lol. M doesn't seem to like them much but I didn't peel them and the few she ate she didn't have trouble with.

Never peeled! Isn't there fiber in the skin? I still cut though... even for my 5 yo most of the time!

I've never peeled them, and only cut them if they were very large. DD is 2yo.

Never peeled, just cut in half. I wouldn't even think to peel them first. I've seen him chew through the plastic on his pack n play mattress, though, so I assume he's capable of eating a grape.

I bought some grapes that had this astringent taste to it, so that was the only time i peeled grapes. But now i just cut them up.

I only peel at her request. I didn't ever peel them but one day she tried to do it herself and couldn't, then she refused to eat it if it wasn't peeled. So I did it. But she's not consistent with that, she'll usually eat the peel.

I peeled them for DS1 for the longest time, like over 2 years, because he'd always choke on the peel. DS2 is 15 months and he won't eat them if they're peeled or cut up so we just watch him carefully.

I've never peeled them but I always cut them in half or quarter them depending on the size. DS is almost 20 months old.

@Rubies: you are not mental! I peeled for my kids at that age because they were spitting out the peels or choking. After they got the hang of it I stopped peeling. Sometimes it's easier if you cut them up first and then peel? Also grapes that are a tiny bit older are easier to peel..

I didn't even know that it was possible to peel a grape. I've recently stopped cutting up most grapes for my 19 month old. Just the really big ones now.

My mom would always say, "oh and should I peel you a grape?" hen we asked too much of her as kids. And yes, for the first couple days, I peeled C's grapes, but he got the hang of the peel very quickly.

@Rubies: I remember my Grandma peeling grapes for me when I was 6! You are not mental

I used to peel them bc I wasn't sure if the skin was good for them (even if you buy organic...I wasn't sure)...but i started being a lot lax about that stuff once LO turned 12 month. I haven't cut or peeled them since.

I cut and peel, LO is 9 months. My mom has me convinced she'll choke on the peel, but I think I'll let her try some just cut up and see how it goes.
