We've done two trees the last few years: one will have all our sentimental ornaments, then the other will have a color theme. This year will be the last time we do that - the next few Christmases will have baby/child-proof trees

Sort of? We do two trees. The one in the great room is just anything I think is pretty. Which means total variety. The one in the man cave (which has actually become our primary living space) is a tacky white tree with neon lights that we do up with all our special ornaments. Those are the ones we get every time we travel and also we buy a funny tin ornament from target every year. Classy trees don't say Christmas to me

Love reading about these trees! We have a few we have collected over the years, too, and I love those. I'm so excited to start thinking about what we want to get!

@Snowdrop: thanks, but that's my old house! I rent that one out now :sniff: (I still miss it. It was my "single lady" purchase. I also miss that couch).

On our main tree we have a set that has a color theme. Deep reds, purples, burgundy, brown, gold, etc.
We have a smaller stand tree that we use for keepsakes, sentimental ornaments.

Not really I just stick to "family Christmas" theme haha. I have a lot of ornaments that were handed down or made by my grandmother(she does lots of crafts) and I have some commemorative ornaments like for "our first christmas", ornaments to represent where we come from (crab for MD, sports teams, etc) and just ones that look cute. I was just in Hallmark today looking at all their fancy ones that play music or move or light up - so cute!

My tree is gold, copper, bronze, silver metallic colors with kind of a nature theme. I have the regular round balls but also have some deer, birds, pinecone and leaf ornaments. Some years I throw in some bright aqua balls too for a pop of color. I plan to have a small kids tree once our daughter (and other future kids) gets older and it will have our childhood ornaments and any she makes. It will be the fun and colorful one.
