not yet but I didn't want my parents volunteering past a certain age so maybe he will be over it soon!

She's too young but I used to do this to my mom and as a working mom now I feel really bad about it! But once I was in middle school I didn't want my parents anywhere near school so it all worked out

Is there any way you can take your son to work, so he can see what you're doing? I am not sure if you go to an office or not, but I found that helped a lot with my son. We didn't actually take him into our office during a work day, we brought him to an event after hours, but he saw the office, he got his own badge, he saw where we eat lunch..

My daughter is proud if what we do and when other kids give her a hard time about why her mama never does pick up, she says that I'm busy helping really sick kids.

We'll see how that attitude holds through the years!

My daughter just bugs to stay at home with me. She says she doesn't want me to work so I can play with her. I felt a little bad about that.

She is extremely happy when I do drop off because I always do pick up. I don't feel guilty about that because I don't want to do drop off. We try to make it to most fieldtrips but other than that there is not too much volunteering happening.

I think it would be good if you have the go-to-work talk with the kids because it is a fact of life and builds understanding of work ethic. It is just a bit hard to shake the stabs of guilt and desire to be with them.

They're too young, but I remember guilting my mom a lot when I was young. I just didn't understand why she couldn't come to class field trips, or pick me up first from school like some of the other parents regularly did. She didn't do a very good job at explaining either though. Hopefully I can get through to my kids when that day comes! I'm already anticipating it.
