Charlie and Olive are 1/2 Korean, 1/4 Japanese, and 1/4 German-Irish. I think it will be somewhat easy to preserve parts of their Korean identity because I'm fluent in Korean, and mostly eat Korean food (I think food has a big influence on identifying with a particular culture). Since Mr. Bee is "mixed" as well (he hates that word but I don't have anything better to use), he can better understand the challenges of growing up biracial than I can. But I wonder how much they'll identify with each aspect of their ethnic makeup.

Does your child have a mixed background too? What will you to to preserve those backgrounds?
