For me, I'm half-Japanese and identified with that part of my heritage growing up. I'm also half German/Irish, but only discovered that because I mapped out my family tree when I was younger. My dad identified as mostly just American.

My kids are half-Korean, quarter-Japanese and quarter-German/Irish. They didn't really identify with any one ethnicity until they started Korean school this Spring. Now they identify as mostly Korean.

If your kids have a mixed ethnic background, do you emphasize all of the ethnicities in their background?
