I never thought my LO would be one to have a tablet of her own so young but she is being gifted one for Christmas. We want to set limits on it though, but not sure what is fair. Does your LO have a tablet of their own? Or if they play on yours how do you set limits? How much time do they get on it per day? I'm thinking it will be nice to use at night when I'm trying to get LO2 down to sleep!

My kids have Kindles and I don't set limits per say but mostly use them when I need to occupy the kids while I get stuff done. Once I am done I tell them "ok 5 more mins then kindles are done!"

I don't have a strict limit, but I'll try to limit to 30 minutes here and there. I give her five minute warnings to let her know that the iPad is going away soon...

How old is she? If you think she's too young y to understand the limits, you could probably put the tablet away till she's older. We do it all the time with DS's presents, either because he's not old enough for them, or because there are just too many!

@Mama Bird: She is two. She plays games on our phones so we are ok with her playing games here and there on a tablet but we wouldn't want her sitting there playing it all day. Like I mentioned it will be nice to let her play on it if I really need to get something done, or tend to LO2 or make a phone call.

Our little guy is 3.5 and he has had a tablet forever now. He gets the tablet for car rides and pooping in the potty. Then other times as we want. He is occasionally able to understand the idea of "until the end of the show" now. We give rewards and praise for giving it to us when we ask for it. Whining has been an issue for us lately and so if he is whiny he loses his tablet for the day. Also if he has a potty accident at school he knows he doesn't get it that evening. We don't let him use electronics before school because he gets too whiny and obnoxious.

Zuma has a tablet. She sometimes watches movies but mostly eats it so her limit is she's done once she tries to pUT it in her mouth.

LO has a tablet and our rules are sort of different in that she only gets it when we are traveling - at hotels, long car rides, planes, etc. she is 2.5 and never really asks for it at home. She also plays with our phones to watch tv shows and play games and understands "until the end of the show" or a similar warning system/ time limit.

We have one that we all share and we have to set limits with it. We also turn the Internet off of it sometimes so he will play games instead of just watching PBS kids app or Netflix

She's getting one for an Early Christmas present. We're travelling over the holidays, and we want her to not get bored at the airport or on the train. We ordered on a Black Friday sale the Vtech InnoTab 3S Plus. I hope she likes it!

Similar to @yoursilverlining: We mainly use it on car rides if I don't want her falling asleep and at night (she doesn't like being in the dark car in the back alone) and just movies or shows. Also while traveling and we'll pull it out during long meals out (i.e. extended family dinners). She never uses it at home or asks for it.
