I want a tablet, but i'm lost as to where to start looking. Of course, there is the iPad but there are also 100 other kinds. What kind do you have? or what kind have you tested out?
I don't want a mini one, and i'm not interested in a kindle/nook.
Does is matter that I don't have any Apple products? (not a fan of the iPhone)
Uhg, I know nothing about technology and only know one person who has a tablet. She has an Android one.

I got my iPad before I got my iPhone or iPod. I really love it. I love it a lot more than my laptop because it's slim and fits in my purse. I mainly bring it to work and surf the net or watch Netflix. That's all I have to say I really like it though!

I got my iPad before I had an iPhone too. I loved it while I was still in school because it fit so well in my backpack. I use it now to watch Netflix mostly and my husband uses it when we travel. I've never used any other type of tablet.

I love my iPad and wouldn't trade it for anything but if you are not a fan of the iPhone I'm not sure how you will feel about the iPad seeing as the interface is almost identical. Browsing the web is much easier from the iPad than the iPhone though.

I have the Samsung Galaxy tab 2, the 7.0 smaller one. I love it! I use it all the time. We are an anti-Apple household, so we have all Android products, haha. I use it mainly to borrow digital books from my library, surf the net, facebook, shop, etc. I've watched Hulu once or twice, and I'd probably use Netflix if we had it. It's a great little tablet! It also comes in a 10 inch and I think they recently came out with a new version too.

I had a HP with Andriod on it and I loved the the driod. My brother has the nexus 7, which is great if you want a small 7 inch portable tablet. If you want something bigger, they have an nexus 10, with an amazing screen resolution of 2560x1600.

We have the iPad2 and I love it. My laptop is getting dusty in a corner because I never use it any more. Once they get a functioning spreadsheet on the iPad I seriously may just get rid of my computer all together.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: We are anti-Apple as well, but things have been sneaking into our house - agh!
DH uses a Mac at work, and since he is working on the development of an App for his office, they provided him with an i-pad...so that is what we use if we have any tablet needs. I use it occasionally, but since it is primarily his (and to be used for his work) I don't get on there that often. But, when I do use, it I like it.
That's how the first Apple item wound up in our house. Then, we got Apple TV so we can stream Netflix...so now we have more Apple things floating around...

I bought the hubby an iPad for his birthday last year and we love it! The portability and all the apps make it handy and useful.
We also have a blackberry playbook. It resembles a laptop in functionality, but has no apps and has limitations. For instance, you can't stream netflix on the playbook.

Even though my iPad 1 is soooo slow and crashes on me now, I would only get another iPad! Maybe a mini Probably because I'm used to it, and I've never used android before.

I think the Samsung galaxy tab is the best on the market.
I was going to buy one, but work actually gave me an ipad2 for Xmas. I love my iPad, but I hate that it doesn't support flash. So many websites still use flash and I can't view them. Also a lot of video won't play from tv websites.
Other than That, I love my iPad, but I think androd s better

We have the Nexus 7, and I really like it. My husband did a lot of research before he bought it and that one got great reviews and is cheaper than apple products. The battery life is wonderful and the picture quality is great too.
I think there are slightly less apps available for it so far, but all the best ones have been coming out slowly.

Nothing else in the house is Apple (minus the iPods) except my iPad 3 I got through a generous parent at work. I like it. I don't know that I would have sought out a tablet if I weren't gifted one, but I like it all the same. Some of it is not very intuitive, but I'm learning quickly. Also, you can't look at websites with flash--I don't know how that works on other tablets.

Samsung is evil so I refused to get the Galaxy I bought the iPad only after LO was born (as a push gift + bday gift for myself)! She was super fussy and I needed something to keep me sane while I sat in bed trying to feed her/rock her to sleep. I still use it every day!
It's not as easy typing with though, so I still prefer to use my laptop when writing, but it's great for FB and browsing HB in bed. There's also a bunch of apps that help calm LO. Just that made it worthwhile for me!
As for other tablets, I'm getting DH the Kindle Fire HD. It's small so it'll be much easier to carry around. It doesn't have a rear facing camera, but he doesn't take pictures anyway so alls good. I know you aren't interested in the minis but it's android and aside from less apps available, I think it's pretty good for the price!
BTW, Adobe is no longer supporting flash mobile it's not just iPad anymore.
