Yesterday I showed my 4.5 year old how to make a phone call. I only have 3 people in my favorites, which is DH, my dad and my mom and I showed her how to get there and that if she ever needed to call anyone she could. I tried to explain to her if mommy was hurt or something she could use my phone to call someone. Of course 911 would be the first call to make but I think that would be over her head right now.
At what age did your LO learn to make phone calls?

My daughter called 911 on my MIL's flip phone at 1.5 years old! Oops. Does that count?

Only 911 on our landline. I should probably teach him on my cell.

We set this up last summer at 4.5. Maybe I got the idea on here? We have a land line and programmed the speed dials for 911 and family members. Then I printed and laminated a card that matched the speed dial numbers to pictures of the people (and ambulance pic for 911). She loves to practice and call family members! I'm not really sure it would help in a true emergency but can't hurt.

@Bao: no, in her case I'm more worried she wouldn't call if she needed to unless I was able to tell her to do it. I guess every kid would be different though, she's very shy of strangers.

No, but she has already made it pretty close to placing an emergency call from my phone's lockscreen.

Yeah, prob from age3.5 on? She was able to identify names from the favorite screen and call.
She's able to maneuver the iPhone better than me

My 2 year old knows how to launch my phone app on my phone and call the grandparents with their pictures popping up in favorites. Not super intentional, but I've certainly been leaving my phone in airplane mode a lot recently...

I taught her how to dial 911 on the landline and on my phone around 3.5. Of course she called it just to try. Ugh! She can text and make calls to family members based on the pictures in my phone. I don't like to use people's real names in my phone.
