Occasionally but not often...usually because weekends are family time and we do things together. He would in a heartbeat if I asked specifically. Sometimes he takes him shopping early on weekend mornings so it's quiet in the house and I can sleep in.

Maybe he's just nervous to take her out by himself. I'd just ask him to. I'm with LO all the time so DH likes taking her out for breakfast or to the park once a week or so. Their first outing was out for ice cream together lol. He'd been talking about a father daughter ice cream shop trip for months. Maybe suggest DH take LO somewhere he's into like a favorite lunch place or the dog park or something.

Not really. LO is 13 months and DH has only taken him out once by himself and that was only because I had to solo parent for two weeks and really, really needed a break. He doesn't usually join us when we go to the zoo, museums, etc. either. He's a great dad, and plays with him all the time on the house, but it's almost as if he's scared to take him out alone. I'm hoping he will be more interested in one-on-one time when B gets a little older.

Yes. He stayed home with her for a month after I went back to work, so he didn't really have a choice! He takes her to story time at the library, the grocery store, zoo. I would just be honest and say it's really important that you get some alone time. Maybe encourage him to start small...like a quick trip to the grocery store or Target just to grab a few things? That way it's not a big deal if your LO starts acting up and they need to leave.

I was nervous about taking LO out alone while on maternity leave, but the more I did it the more comfortable I got.

DH takes LO out all the time. But, it is never his initiation. I have to ask, "oh you're running up to your brother's to pick something up? Go ahead and take LO because he's bored and that'll give me 15mins to get this dinner cleaned up." And then he does, but might not think to otherwise.

Eta: he started taking him out at about 5-6 months and even then, it was only to my Mom's or his, but now it's everywhere (post office, grocery store...).

Yes, every weekend. He realized quickly that I'm in a much better mood if he takes LO for a 30 min walk so I can get in some alone time. He really enjoys it now, and will take her to the parks, to the grocery, etc. It took him a little while to warm up to it, but once he realized he was fully capable of taking care of her by himself, he ran with it.

He hasn't but she's little still. I feel like he would, if he had time. He's better than I am a lot of the time at calming her down, so I don't think he'd be worried about her spazzing.

DH has always taken E out for daddy date days ever since she was a baby. They'll go run errands and lunch or go shopping. Now that we live in Macau, he took her to Hong Kong for the day last week on the ferry. She loves her daddy date days. Plus, if I've had a rough week with her, he will take her out, to give me a break.

Never, but then again, DH doesn't really go anywhere. He goes to work then comes home. On the weekends, he does yard work and tinkers around the house. I've suggested he take LO to Home Depot a few times but no dice.

LO is 16m, maybe once he's a little older DH will.

My husband takes our 5 month old out when I ask him to. He takes the dog out every weekend for a walk and I told
Him to take her once. He had a great time so when he came back offered to do it every weekend! If you need a break just tell him, don't ask!

Yep he takes LO to the park or a walk around the neighbourhood, usually so I can get dinner going or clean up a bit. If he's doing a Timmies run in the morning I always suggest he take LO with him so I can grab a quick shower.

I started small, with morning trips to the coffee shop with our first kid... and then built on things from there!

@rahlyrah: Sounds exactly like my DH! We should have them take the boys out together; maybe they'll be more likely to do it if there's safety in numbers
