Two women have asked me if my pump says anything to me! One said that hers seemed to be saying "Saturday" and the other said she stopped using her pump because it sounded like it was saying "white power"!!!!
My pump doesn't have a specific word but I remember the first time I used it at home I thought that there were people talking outside of my apartment door. So my pump basically sounds like a muffled conversation.

This is too weird! I always thought my pump was "talking" to me. I know it's just the rhythm of the pump and your mind wandering but I'm having trouble breast feeding my LO and I swear that my pump was saying"you can do it" this morning while I was pumping.

I use a Medela Swing at home and it sounds like Austin Powers' saying "Grrrr!" Like, "Yeah, baby! Grrrr!" My husband could not stop laughing when I started using it, but we are pretty used to it now!

Haha omgggg "white power" pump is hilarious!
Mine says different two syllable words each time I use it. I guess it depends on how high I have it turned on. It was saying "gumshoe" this morning!

Haha! I had to comment becuase my pump would totally "talk" to me. I would also see faces of people in the milk expressed into the pump part as it gathered. Needless to say I was a bit delirious during those middle of the night pump sessions.

My husband says that my Hygeia sounds like the 3 Stooges. I hear it so often that I tune it out, so I never notice.
I'll have to listen for words tonight when I pump again

Omg, this is great. The pump room at work is partitioned off so multiple people can use it and I swear the other person's pump was saying 'tobacco' today. How funny to come on here and find a thread about it then!

OMG, this happens to me too!!! Usually, it just repeats a two syllable word that gets stuck in my head. It's kinda creepy because this only happens to me when I'm pumping in the middle of the night, and oh, it gets so lonely!! Hahahaha.

When I was staying at my parents place, pumped in my room w the babies. It was saying double double double.... In hindsight, I have twins, so I guess it was telling me to pump double?

Was reading pumping threads and had to resurrect this one...
My pump totally talks. I didn't even tell DH, and he started hearing it too--different two syllable words of course. Then he kept repeating over and over...
Worst is when I would pump MOTN...can't get the words out if my head and sometime ms it sounds like someone left a radio on in another room. Call me crazy...

I used to hear "gram-pa, gram-pa" and "jack-off, jack-off". So weird! I remember thinking I heard a couple of other phrases too, it changed based on the speed I was pumping at, but I can't remember now! It used to drive me bonkers, I eventually had to put on headphones and listen to music while I pumped.

I can't believe I'm seeing this thread. The first time I pumped I thought I might actually be getting psychotic. I was so tired and I thought it was saying " gotta pump" over and over to me. I've also heard "breast milk."

Mine sounded like it was saying "re-pump, re-pump" and "pregnant, pregnant" My period took more than a year to come back so thanks, pump, for freaking me out

Mother overheard me pumping through the door and thinks it says "Jose! Jose!"
Wonder if husbands perceive it to be something totally different, or don't even hear the pump 'talking' at all?

all the time! It's always something different, depending on the speed and what is on my mind that day. I think it is hilarious. I've never asked DH, but he is often in the room when I'm pumping so I'm curious if he hears it too.
ETA: Just asked my husband who looked at me like I was crazy. He thought I meant something like "Hello! Welcome to Medela, pumping will commence in 3 seconds"
