Help. The dog has an ear infection and our regular vet is closed today (sunday). What can i do to help him? He's currently got the cone on to prevent him from scratching it constantly but I can tell he's really bothered by it. Any tips? Or should I call an emergency vet?

give plain yogurt in his food. Otherwise, you need to wait for the vet for some ear drops. You might be able to find an OTC thing for him at petsmart, but it won't be as effective.
Do you have any leftover antibiotics from any people in the house?

My dog just had an ear infection too, poor thing. Could you call the e-vet and get their opinion? They may tell you just to wait until tomorrow and take him in to his regular vet, but it wouldn't hurt to ask for your own peace of mind.

Our younger dog gets ear infections. I put hydrogen peroxide in the and then wipe them out with a cloth. That usually helps alleviate some of the problem but they might need an antibiotic or anti fungal solution to reAlly clean it up.

My dog has dealt with chronic ear infections. I feel so sorry for her when it gets bad!
Don't put anything in there for now. An infected ear canal can have ulcers, so that can be very sore and sensitive to OTC ear cleaners ingredients. I'll wet a cotton ball and squeeze it so there's no moisture left to clean whatever debris I can get to. I also found that calendula cream can soothe the ear where they've been scratching (just the ear flap area).
