We are having a princess come for an hour for my daughter's 4th bday party - they will do face painting, sing, etc, so that should be most of the entertainment but I'm looking for some other activities for before the princess arrives or for kids who aren't super interested in the Rapunzel. Something easy that doesn't have to be led? Any ideas would be wonderful. Thank you!

We went to a party recently and the kids made masks/tiaras from these kits (the kids were 4 and 5).

@lamariniere: Yup, these kits. I think we even did them at a three year old birthday party without much guidance. Melissa and Doug also do a similar kit for wands, bracelets (really cute), headbands, and superhero masks.
If you'll be outside, you could also set up an area with sidewalk chalk and bubbles. The Fubbles buckets are really hard to spill, so require no supervision (like individual bottles/tubes, which in my experience get dumped).

thank you both so much!!! I'm ordering those wands - they look perfect! And chalks and bubbles is a great idea too - fingers crossed for sunny weather (we are in Seattle). We have a bubble machine but I'm going to look into the fubbles too!

We did a bounce house for DD's 4th birthday party and it was a huge hit (for the kids and adults
). It wasn't very pricy and they did all the set up and tear down.

I was also going to suggest the make your own tiara kit! I don’t think the one I got was Melissa and Doug, just basic foam crown shapes and I bought some extra foam stickers at ac Moore. It was more of a hit than I expected.

Cupcake decorating! Have bowls of frosting, and different piping tubes, and various sprinkles/toppings and let them do it. Always a hit!
