We're flying to Maui from Los Angeles (5 hour flight) with a 15 month old in a couple of weeks...wish us luck. What apps or favorite tv shows do your LOs like that you would recommend I download to try to keep him entertained? Side note - our LO doesn't watch TV or play on the iPad but he loves watching videos of himself.

i would download a few episodes of sesame street since each episode has a wide variety of characters

Bubble guppies was the first show that caught each of my kiddos' interest. GL!

My kid only seems to like nature shows about animals. Any way you can show him some stuff before-hand so you know what he's into? Or if he's into it at all and you don't have to bother?
My 15 mo did not enjoy the apps at all.

No suggestions on TV, but we just did a 5 hour flight with our 13 month old and it went great. Lots of snacks, and stickers were a huge hit. She's stick them to our faces over and over again. And let him run around the airport as much as possible before boarding!

I think at 15 mos, my LOs didn't actually care for screen time.. They'd watch or try apps but lose interest very quickly. I think you might have to try it out before the flight, or have other stuff prepared (puffy stickers, snacks, lift the flap books, etc.)
As for shows, maybe download Daniel Tiger episodes?
Also, Peekaboo Barn app is a simple one for little ones

@golizzzard: my son is a little younger but we recently flew at 12 months. The best thing I brought in terms of bang for your buck were six plastic toy French fries (from our play kitchen) in a medela milk storage bottle. Sounds super random, but he loves to put things in containers, take them out, shake them around, and repeat! He would not stay interested in anything on the screen at this age.
So we did lots of French fry bottle, read his favorite book (moo baa la la la) a ton and are snacks. I would look at what engages him now and try to figure out how to replicate that in a plane friendly way. Good luck!

I would try to have variety at this age. They get bored fast. You can't go wrong with cartoons and music. Snacks, books, small toys (that you don't mind losing).
@MamaCate: yes my son loves containers, too! He's almost 16 months and he still loves it.

@macintosh: that silly French fry bottle is a go to at restaurants, church, anywhere we need him somewhat entertained and contained! We are at 13 months now so good to know we will get some more use out of it.
