I made a huge batch of blueberry waffles and sweet potato waffles for DH and E this week and they nommed them all up! i"m making my list for the store....what are your favorite flavors? I think I'm going to use canned pumpkin next time, since it's easier. Maybe banana? Puree a pear in there?

My favorite waffle flavor combinations to make have been cinnamon, banana and pecan and to sautee apples in butter and Penzy's "apple pie" seasoning and then chop them up and add them to waffle batter.
We went to brunch a few weekends ago and had waffles with little chunks of maple coated bacon in them - amazing!
I also had some chocolate waffles once that were very light - not super sweet, just a wonderful hint of chocolate, topped with fresh strawberries and cream. Oh my; they were delicious.

I like to add mini choc chips to mine & then eat them with bananas and or strawberries sliced on top. I'm not a fan of syrup but DH likes his plain with syrup.

@yoursilverlining, That sounds AMAZING!!! If i chopped the pecans up finely enough, I think E might be ok with them. And i totally found that list yesterday

@Jhd, no, it's weird, right?! She'll do mini chocolate chips in banana bread (which she's only had a couple of times, so I'm sure she would like the chips in her waffles! but OMG the mess) but won't eat chocolate in anything else. And so far, I can't get her to really eat fruit. Even daycare has commented how unusual it is for a child to not eat fruit.....she just throws it.
blueberry syrup+pie filling just sounds like a huge mess! I try to feed her with a bib on and then rush her to daycare, so i try for non-messy stuff first thing in the AM.

@blackbird: So every time I have had it... it's always been used with coconut so I am probably completely wrong... but I will say it has a light taste fresh taste... it's a plant and pandan recipes call for the leaves of that plant.
So everything I have had with it... is a light fresh coconut taste.
I googled it because that's what I do.. the yahoo answer is "Taste wise I found it to be floral with a piney/ citrusy overtone"

I can't remember the last time I had a good waffle. Growing up, my dad used to put bacon in our waffles. Those were amazing.

I assume dark chocolate wasn't the type of recommendation you were looking for. DH makes them with dark chocolate shavings, buttermilk, the works!

I made this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Waffles-I/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=waffles&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page&soid=sr_results_p1i2 but subbed butter for oil and used half whole wheat flour, and brown sugar instead of white. I added cinnamon, banana, and sauteed apples in spices and butter, too!
@thou, omg that sounds divine. Especially with vanilla ice cream and some raspberry sauce.
