Ever feel that way?
We recently moved into a house and I posted it on FB. Got a bunch of likes but then the MIL posted this comment "New House? New baby? Old wives' tale and I'm an old wife."
I see why she wrote it and not that annoyed by it but it's just I read that comment and think it's not that easy. Boy, I wish it were that easy.
Why is it that nothing applies to us?
Just discouraged and wanted to vent.

My dad gave me a fertility idol...like it would help me get pregnant. Thx Dad! Awkward and annoying.
Treat yourself to something special today...that's how I got through the hard ones. And tomorrow will prob be better.

Big hugs all around! I felt like this for a long time!!! People really can be so insensitive and not even realize it. (Not saying this about your MIL just from my own personal TTC journey). After years of TTC, I was able to conceive naturally in 2011 but I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks. I felt like it was me against the world for a long time after that. Then when I was pregnant with baby girl, some of my inlaws were like "oh next time it will be a boy, try again right away, don't wait." I was like "Really?!! You mother f_cker!" People just suck and have forgotten how to be kind. I didn't curse them out loud, they are just on my shitlist for a while.

Things are not as easy as a few anecdotal stories make it to be.

I am so sorry. I know it sucks when you read/hear stuff like that. I know most people mean well but it doesn't make it any easier to hear it.

@bluestriped bee: I wanted to add that my own mother at times says things that kinda make my cringe.....I know she truly has no intention of hurting my feelings...its just what they would say regardless and people foregt to filter it due to the struggles....
She will say things like "When am I going to be a grandma?" ....lol ahe knowa darn well it is not that easy for us, but I think iy is her way of showing she cares!!!!
Hope your MIL is the same!!!!!! Mine knows of our IF and nevr says boo......

ugh, it's so hard when people say careless things.
my mom knows about the troubles we had with #1 but I didn't tell her until we were finally succeeding. I also haven't told her anything about our #2 struggles because she got pregnant with my brother and I both on the first try and would say things that were well-meaning but drove me crazy for sure. when I was going through chemical #3 she was telling me (not knowing about the chemical) that it's good I'm not pregnant because then I wouldn't be giving LO#1 enough solo time. again well meaning but please keep any thoughts about our timing to yourself mom.

That wasn't very nice! It's true, especially when you hear so many stories of friends that "just got pregnant right away".
Fortunately I do know some friends that struggled w/ TTC & miscarriage, so I KNOW that not everything is happily ever after for everyone. I think a lot more people struggle but just not shared/talked about as often.

@owlteach: Thank you. I think getting it off my chest really helped me feel better. You know, I kept thinking about it and wondering how I should read it. I know she meant well but it just hurt thinking about it realistically. If I didn't tell you guys about it, I think I would still be thinking about it. Thank you all for helping me clear my mind.
