How did they get your due date? My MA used the little wheel and put the arrow for "conception" on the LMP date, I almost had a heart attack!
I had to show her how to use it.
I was surprised to not have a dating ultrasound, or doppler or anything baby centered. Last time I had a dating ultrasound.

First two were calculated by ovulation. My third was calculated by a standard ultrasound. My third pregnancy is the only one I've gotten a dating scan for.

They always use the standard 28 day. So I lied about my dates this time knowing hat they did that, they always gave me a transvag datin us too so it all worked out to be accurate.

First one went by the wheel thing then ordered a dating ultrasound which was 2 days off of the wheel.
Second one went by the wheel. I begged and begged for a dating ultrasound. Doctor said no. Asked a different doctor for a dating one, got one. But it didn't go well...
This time I'll have a dating US but I'm pretty sure when I ovulated.

Both were initially calculated by LMP, adjusted for my cycle length (I think) then confirmed via a dating ultrasound, NOT vaginal. Not all OBs do dating us via transvaginal.
The first visit with the nurse was not when the dating ultrasound occurred. My OB has me come in immediately for first pregnancy then second I asked for blood work confirmation. Then scheduled visit around 8 weeks for dating ultrasound. -
@mrsjyw: This was the tip my sister actually told me to use when I went to my first appointment so I could get an ultrasound. I had an early miscarriage with my first so they gave me an ultrasound anyway, but she told me to say I didn't remember when my last period was.

Lmp and ultrasound. According to lmp I was 7 weeks and according to the ultrasound I was measuring 6.5 wks. He said they usually don't change due dates unless the baby measures more or less than a week from the lmp due date. So he said u was within normal range.

LMP. It was accurate because I have a standard 28-day cycle thanks to birth control.

They used LMP when I called to make an appointment, but I know I have super long cycles (usually ovulate around CD30-32, so cycles are 45ish days instead of 28). I asked for my appointment to be at the end of the window they want and then they do a dating ultrasound at the appointment.

Looked at the wheel but went by dating ultrasound. After early bleeding it took 3 ultrasounds to get a heartbeat, but I'm sitting here watching my newborn nap now!

First pregnancy lmp, but I knew my ovulation date and that my cycle had been a "normal" length, so it all worked out the same.
This time it was only my first cycle after baby and I knew it wasn't a regular length. And, I know exactly when I got pregnant, so my midwife based it on conception date which was about a week different. All ultrasounds have been exactly on target from that date.
I haven't had a dating ultrasound with either. They only do it if you are very unclear.

First baby I knew conception date, so they "compromised" between that and my LMP which makes zero sense as I have weird cycles. This time I requested a dating ultrasound. They tried abdominal but then switched to transvaginal, but I don't remember how far along I was. 8 weeks?

My doc schedule the 1st appointment at around 8 weeks where you get an ultrasound. For my 1st two it matched the wheel. This time it was a bit off and they used the ultrasound date.

They asked if I knew (of course I did, there's a million apps/calculators) used a wheel-y thing and scheduled me for a dating ultrasound between 7-10 weeks.

They always do lmp unless you have a long cycle, then you get an official vaginal ultrasound for dating.

@Greentea: how long is long? I just worry because i don't want them to say "you're 42 weeks, time for baby to come out" and me to be like "NO, I'm 41 weeks and 3 days, give me time!"

My family doctor used LMP with the 28-day cycle wheel, which would have put me at April 2nd. However, once I was referred to the OB, she started using April 1st as my EDD. My cycles varied between 29 and 31 days once I went off birth control, so assuming ovulation was delayed by 3 days, I might actually have delivered on my "real" due date, April 5th. It just goes to show what a crap shoot the EDD is.

For the first one it was LMP. For the second one, she booked me for an ultrasound. ( It wasn't for a few weeks after the appointment.. they don't give ultrasounds at the dr's offices here. ) I had only had 1 cycle so she wanted to do an ultrasound to confirm. ( I was charting and all that, so I knew when I was due, but I didn't say that as I wanted the ultrasound.)

LMP. They adjust to transvag ultrasound date if it is more than 7 days different. Ultrasound said the 10th, LMP said the 15th, baby arrived on the 11th.

@pastemoo: That's why I requested the dating US. My midwives have strict safety protocols and you have to transfer to OB care if you're not in the 38-42 week window, so I needed my EDD to be correct with LO2!

LMP first, and then updated at the 8 week u/s.

LMP, and even when I measured ahead consistently throughout the pregnancy they did not change the date. Maybe because it was only 5 days.

LMP. I'm going to a GP, and they don't have an ultrasound machine at my clinic. So if we didn't opt for a NT scan the only ultrasound we would have gotten was the anatomy scan. My date was moved back after the NT scan.

@pastemoo: So it sounds like your intake was just with a medical assistant. My office has us meet with a nurse first. So, just talk to your doc if you think the dates would be different. My cycle is 35 days, so that is a whole week, and I always tell the doc because- same thing, I wouldn't want them to tell me I was 41 when I was only 40!

They went by my LMP, and did not adjust it even tho I was measuring almost a week ahead.
