@snowjewelz: Sometimes is truly is that easy.

@HolisticMama: Maybe! But I am definitely trying to be realistic so I don't get my hopes up. Plus we didn't BD that much this month; my only hope was that maybe when we BD it was around O time butI have no way of knowing.

After I came off BCP I was actually afraid to BD for a whole week (maybe more), because going off of the pill is one way to make it real that we're TTC, but to actually BD was going to the next level. So I had a good cry session and then we eventually got onto BD-ing lol.

@snowjewelz: Aw. It is super emotional, this journey.
Are you going to start using OPKs or anything?

I can't temp, because my hormones impact my sleep too much, which is okay. Temping would drive me nut, anyways.

I can usually tell by CM (although BDing kind of messes that up), abdominal pains and then I got OPKs this month from Amazon. I really wanted to get a better feel for what my body was doing. After last cycle, I realized that my body is way more sensitive to hormones than I ever thought.

Joining in! Hoping a good BD sess or two if/when EWCM shows up over the next few days will send me into my first crazy TWW! I know I'll be super be neroutic about "symptoms" (or lack there of....), so I'll be happy to have this board to commiserate with the crew!

I'm still excited/feel like BDing without protection feels strange and crazy after preventing for 10 years!!!!

  5. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@ChiCalGoBee: I love BDing without protection. I feel so much closer to my husband.
And I've decided to embrace my symptoms. It's made the 2WW so much more fun.
I start testing at Day 10, to prepare myself mentally for AF, if I need to, but why not go with the flow?

    It's working for me.

    nectarine / 2028 posts

@HolisticMama: I'm debating whether or not to buy tests before I think I "need" them. It might help keep the obsession at bay if they aren't in my house...but then again if I think I need them I'm going to hightail it to the drugstore to get them. I may as well keep them on hand?!

  7. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@HolisticMama: I have them! At this point I prob won't use them till next cycle because I might have O'd already anyway. But I was thinking of taking one for practice

Just saw this thread! We are cycle #3 so definitely still in the newbie camp. I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact that we're not going to just instantly get pregnant like I always assumed we would. Now I'm not sure where to fall on the balance between being hopeful for each cycle, and accepting that it could take a really long time.

  9. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@PawPrints: I understand! As soon as there wasn't a BFP your 1st cycle, you start to think just how long it might take for you and only time will tell. But you definitely are early in the game, so good luck and hoping for a BFP for you soon!

Ladies, I think FINALLY O'd on CD24 (despite it being a week after my peak digital opk). What do you think?

I have to say, I love the hopeful, excited nature of the early TTCers!

We're just beginning our journey, and I've probably spent way too much time on the internet, and I'm just afraid that we're going to have problems right off the bat. I have a tendency to worry (which is why I'm banned from websites like WebMD, because I am totally capable of being convinced that I have something like prostate cancer, anatomical impossibilities be damned!), so it's really good for me to learn to relax and just take it day by day.

Side note to @HolisticMama, are you a Whovian? How awesome to see the Doctor around these parts!

  14. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@Ms.Pumpkin: I actually just got into Dr. Who. A whole new world has opened up to me! LOL.

I hope that you find hopeful peace in your journey. I know I sound like a broken record, but if you can- I think you should be joyful and excited. In the big scheme of things, there is such a short period of time where a woman can feel or hope that she is truly pregnant. Of course, you need to be able to balance this with how you handle disappointment.

Turns out I handle disappointment pretty well. (But I also know for a fact that we MAY have problems. We've already had fertility testing done) But every time AF arrives, I think..."Sweet, okay. Fresh start." And in the 2ww, I enjoy the wonderment that is pure hope.

@HolisticMama: I love your outlook. In the midst of my BD-busy days and then my first 2WW, I will try and keep the joy and hope and positivity. I needed to hear that!

Woohoo, I'm officially in the TWW! Had my last cocktail for the cycle on Saturday.

Where are you all in your cycles right now?

    I am 5DPO. CD20.
Feeling optimistic and happy. Have the day off today, so that's nice. I need to get some homework done, laundry and a little house cleaning.

I watched Warm Bodies this morning. Pretty silly movie. LOL.

Wonderful! My husband's company has the day off today but I was not so lucky.. Oh well, at least it's slow and I have some time to browse the boards

joining in too! just started TTC last month. af arrived today, and symptoms drove me nuts already throughout the TWW. there's an overwhelming amount of information out there, which probably doesn't help!

  20. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@anyajenkins: I still drink wine while TCC haha, but just a tiny bit!

Today is CD27, since I just started and haven't been temping and didn't use OPKs yet, I have no idea what's going on! I technically should get my period this week, but since I'm off BCP, who knoooowsss.....

  21. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@monkey: Aw I'm sorry it was AF instead of BFP! I know, I can no longer tell whether my symptoms are for O-ing, AF or BFP... And the more I read, the crazier I get!

  22. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@snowjewelz: I'm right there with you. It seems like every single symptom you can experience during TWW can be attributed to progesterone....or pregnancy. It's annoying. So I've just decided I will assume I'm pregnant until I'm not. LOL. It seems to work for me.

  23. monkey

    apple seed / 4 posts

@snowjewelz: thanks...it's a lot to expect on the first try, but technically have been NTNP for a few months now. but i hear you - every symptom is exacerbated - i can't believe how little i've paid attention to my body until recently!

  24. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@monkey: I agree. I found out last month that I just actually have veiny boobs all the time. LOL. TMI. But SO true! It's such an interesting journey getting to know your body and your cycles.

Blergh. I have no idea what's happening. My cycle has been really really confusing. I am discounting temps BC we traveled to a different time zone and they seemed all over the place. Had lots of wet CM (although not EW CM) on Sat night and BDed.....but.... OPKs have all been neg. It's CD16. Still have "Wet" CM. WTH is going on? Did I miss it? Did Saturday actually count? Should I still be waiting for the real deal? I already feel like I'm "out" just because of pure confusion. I am hoping to BD again tomorrow, and will likely take OPKs first thing in the AM and mid-afternoon, too.

**Sorry for the vent and if I sound like an idiot, just confused and not sure how to proceed this cycle!**

  26. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@HolisticMama: Well, AF came! One day earlier than if I was still on BCP. It is a sigh of relief... No more wondering for me! Now I am going to start charting! I don't know if I want to say this is my 1st cycle, or if I should count this past cycle even though I didn't do any charting.

@ChiCalGoBee: I am so sorry it's confusing! I'm new to this so I don't have much to offer. When in doubt, BD! A lot of people O later, and I think you are absolutely right to just keep on BD-ing!

@monkey: We just started NTNP this month, and AF came for me afterall. I know that no matter how realistic we try to be, we still hope to get KU right away! I'll def be here trying with you!

  27. monkey

    apple seed / 4 posts

@snowjewelz: exactly! i've decided to start charting my temps as of today, only because it gives me something to do and analyze rather than just think up symptoms as i go!

@HolisticMama: definitely - we'll see what this next month brings. i think there are only so many things i can make up in my head, although the internet seems to help

  28. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@ChiCalGoBee: Are you and your partner enjoying BDing?
    OPKs can be so crazy.
Have you had fairly regular cycles in the past?

@monkey: I don't think you are really making up anything in your head. Progesterone is a really strong hormone.

@snowjewelz: Awesome! I LOVE new beginnings! Are you feeling refreshed and hopeful?

  29. MrsMccarthy

3 DPO here and losing my mind!!! Didn't have much sanity to start with but now I am over analyzing everything and really getting me hopes up. Oh we'll. I guess it won't impact the outcome either way so I might as well enjoy it. I also have some consolation plans of the sushi, wine, triple venti latte variety. I'm sure ill still be super bummed but that will help.

  30. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@HolisticMama: Yes! I can't wait to start temping! I am really glad AF came on time too! I was so anxious to find out just how my cycles will become after BCP.

@monkey: So true... At least if your temp dropped, then you know that it may not be BFP afterall and be less crazy about the symptons. I am still wondering why my breasts were so sore for 2 days. I'm thinking maybe I O'd then, so I gotta watch out for that this cycle!

  31. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@snowjewelz: I wish I could temp. My sleep is just garbage.

I like the idea of zen TTC and just going with the flow. DTD when the mood strikes. I once listened to a podcast that said tracking was a very masculine energy, when we are trying to foster a feminine energy...
BUT GOSH DARN IT....I want to know what is going on in my body. -_-

@MrsMccarthy: I agree. Being hopeful doesn't hurt anything. I'm very aware of my womb today. If we did conceive this month- the egg would be dropping into the uterus sometime today, probably. (I love researching).

If I get a BFN- I am going to do a 3 day fast that is sitting in my fridge: http://www.mybeyondorganic.com/Products_FoodPackagesSueroCleanse.aspx

And then play around with the Daniel diet until I am supposed to ovulate.

I want to lose weight and make some big changes, but it kind of contradicts wanting to make a baby. -_-

  33. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@HolisticMama: Can you temp the last time you wake up before you actually wake up? (does that make sense?) The only rule is that you should've sleeping for 3 hrs right?

Or we should just BD non stop for 2 weeks out of the month... lol

  34. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@snowjewelz: My RE just recommended spending money on wine versus OPKs and just try to BD every other day.

  35. HolisticMama

I'm also really interested in trying to get my BBT up. On average- even after moving around a bit- my temperature is only in the 97 range. I don't like it. -_- The nurses at my reproductive endocrinologist was like, "OH...it's no big deal. Lots of the ladies who come in here have low temperatures."

And I'm like..."EXACTLY!! And they are here because they are having trouble making babies!!" I want my temperature to be a little more ideal.

So after my trip to Italy in April- I want to look into Matt Stone's program to raise temps and fix adrenals. http://180degreehealth.com/home/

@HolisticMama: A great suggestion-wine and BD far more relaxing than OPKs! Thanks also for pointing out sleep's impact on BBT....my sleep is pretty garbage, too, and I hadn't thought about that as it relates to temps.

We BDed twice this weekend, and I'm going to make it happen tonight, too. Both FF and Ovia list Sunday-Thurs/Fri this week as "highly fertile time," and they have my past 4 months worth of charts in there for reference. To answer your question about cycle length, it's been pretty regular aside from the long cycle that was almost definitely related to my dog getting sick and then having a major surgery. Now I'm all paranoid that the "official" start of TTC has made me even more nervous and thus delayed O....a vicious cycle!

  38. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@ChiCalGoBee: I had the same fear. Last month I was afraid that I was going to stress myself into a full phantom pregnancy. LOL. I'm glad it didn't happen. I'm wanting to learn to trust my body more. It's a journey.

  39. ChiCalGoBee

Eeee!! Positive OPK this afternoon! I was beginning to think that 1) I was broken or 2) the tests were broken.......but I broke out the "big guns" (AKA the Clearblue "Smiley face" test), and got a positive! If I'm this happy over an OPK, I can only imagine what it will feel like to get a positive from POAS-hopefully hopefully in the not-too-distant future! Now to do "something" about that positive OPK.....
