My husband and I have decided to start trying, finally(I've been waiting for him to be ready for like, 3 years lol). I'm excited, nervous, full of emotions over here. Its so exciting, but wrapping my head around not preventing is...weird. I don't know how else to put it. Anyway, anyone have any words of wisdom? I'm 32, DH is 37, so we figured its time to get this show on the road!

So exciting!! Good luck!! I would def try to just embrace this stage! Sometimes you can get soo into TTC and all the technical stuff and lose your head in all the craziness so when you do, just take a breather!

@JennyLayneAZ: congrats!! This is such s fun and exciting time! My best advice is just go have fun at first and see where it takes you!
Don't (try)stress about it (unless you have prior issues) if nothing is happening after 6m. It can take up to a year for two perfectly healthy adults to conceive!
ETA: and oh, start prenatal pills or at least folic acid if you haven't already!

I have to agree with previous posters. You can't "unknow" information about implantation, cervical mucus, opks, etc. So, I suggest being in the dark as long as possible because it can become really stressful.
If you decide to use OPKS, I suggest the clear blue easy digital kits ( not the advanced. ) To me, it was the most stress free way to conceive.
For the the time being, have fun with it! Don't look for signs, just enjoy having sex without worrying about protection.

Don't stress and just have fun. Don't have super high expectations that it happen immediately. Go 4-6 months before trying obsessive OPKs, charting, etc.

Good luck! My advice would be to eat healthy foods. I struggle with that, I'm a big junk-foody, and I notice I am more fertile when I am eating healthy and exercising.

I have started taking prenatals already (w/ folic acid and DHA). I started on the pill at 18 and before that I had very irregular periods, so I really have no idea how my body is going to do off the pill. I guess we will see!

@JennyLayneAZ: Good luck! I also second what @Keybee: said!! Great advice. I would cut out junk and maybe reduce carbs, and definitely exercise. And tell DH to do the same (helps with men's fertility too).

My husband and I just went through this but I was super anxious because I was 37 (going on 38) and he's 42. We're both late bloomers, met and married late, and were ready to start a family right away.
Being older, I went to my Gyn to ask about things like temperature taking and charting and ovulation kits -- I have irregular periods -- and he said don't!!! He told me it causes more stress than it's worth. He said the best thing to do is to try to have sex approximately at least every other day (as sperm can live in a woman's body for at least a day) most of the month, and during the week I thought I'd be ovulating to try to have sex everyday, if possible. For us, it worked! I got pregnant that month -- a week before my estimate of when I should have been ovulating.
Anyway, taking my doctor's advice was a lot more fun than I think taking the scientific route would have been! Best of luck, have fun, and (easier said than done) most of all don't stress!

Our story is a little different...we've been together for almost 12 years now LOL married for 2 1/2, we just...take our time I guess? Hoping that getting pregnant doesn't take that long though, obviously!@mrscobee: Yeah, we both need to work on healthier habits!

DH and I also recently decided to NTNP, and that's the method we'll be doing a few a few months if it doesn't work for us.
So far (the whole whopping 2 weeks we've been unprotected) we're just carrying on as normal as we're NTNP.@JennyLayneAZ: I don't have much more advice to give you that hasn't already been said, especially since I'm a newbie too, but just wanted to say congrats, and good luck to you!
