I potty trained my daughter on a three week trip to Grandma's this summer. It had been about a week by the time we flew home. Granted we had much shorter flights, but she went potty in the airport, wore pull ups, and went on the plane once. We had no problems at all other than fitting into the airplane bathroom. But it was easier than changing her diaper in there!!

I was worried about sending mixed messages by using a pull-up or diaper right after switching to undies during the day, but I explained to my 2.5 year old that sometimes you can't get out of your seat on an airplane (turbulence) so she'd wear a diaper just in case. But as it happened the plane toilet worked out just fine! Good luck!

We flew a few months after potty training so not exactly relevant but DH was worried about doing it in undies. I felt confident because LO had very few accidents after we made the switch and because LO really likes public bathrooms, weird as that is. So I was not worried about taking her in the airport before we boarded, once or twice during the flight, and then again when we landed. We did a 4 hour flight each way and she did beautifully!
