My parents have graciously let us live with them while we built our house - about 18 months. We want to get them a nice gift when we leave. Any ideas? So far all I can think of is dinner, a hotel, and we have their house cleaned so them come home to a clean house. But that seems a little lame/practical? Any good ideas?

Maybe arrange a family photoshoot so they could have some nice photos of all of you, and of them as a couple? Or something like a wine of the month club? Really high end robes, now that they're going to have their own space back and can wander around without pants again?

I LOVE the idea of getting someone to professionally clean their house from top to bottom once you guys move out!
Your other ideas sound good too, I know if it was my parents they would be more than happy with those gifts! That was very sweet of them!

All I can think of is that if we lived with my parents for 18 months, I would have to buy my mother a new couch! My son is obsessed with their couch!

@gotkimchi: If they'll be repurposing the rooms you stayed in , and they're the type to enjoy redecorating, maybe a gift certificate that would allow them to do so (or just choose/purchase things for them, if that's more their speed).
I also do like the idea of something that comes every month - wine, fruit, food delivery service, whatever!
