I searched but all the threads seemed to be things that we were getting LOs ourselves, and larger ticket items. We're having a family only first birthday party, and people are starting to ask what they can get N for toys. So, thinking $25-40 range, what did your LO love at one year old and a little beyond?

Big building blocks (like Lego Duplo), cars/trucks, etc..., Little People toys (they have a ton of great options in that price range!), puzzles, and books.

LO1's favorite gifts were a bath xylophone, and a hammering peg toy. LO2's favorite was a musical train fisher price I think. Both also got and loved balls and books!

@Baby Boy Mom: Yes to a hammering peg toy! Grandma has one and it's been a favorite for all her grandkids.
L looooves play food. We don't have a play kitchen (yet), but she turns any surface into a 'kitchen' and loves to feed her baby dolls.
Also, this is closer to 18 months, but she's become obsessed with age-appropriate wooden puzzles
