I'm getting together with an old buddy I haven't seen/kept in touch with for many, many years. She is hosting me so I wanted to get her a gift either for herself or baby. Admittedly I don't know much about her life now except where she lives and works. It's not enough to guess her likes and wishes. I don't want to ask cause she would prob just say oh I don't need anything. Suggestions for a thoughtful gift for a new mom currently on mat leave or even just a general thoughtful gift for a 30 something yr old woman?

If someone is going to get me something that I don't "want," I like it when they can say "I love this, it's my favorite ____ and I hope you will too" I've given some nice lavender scented hand sanitizer, some yummy lip balm from sephora, a soft scarf that works as a spit-up cover up, and I've given new moms earrings or jewelry that's kid friendly but pretty

I just put together a basket for my sister in law with a bunch of new mom essentials, and I think just one or two of them in a gift bag is plenty for a more distant friend:
- Mothers Milk Tea
- Mother Love Nipple balm
- kind bars
- a S'well water bottle
- good coffee
- a bottle of wine
- khiels lip balm
- khiels creme de corps
- living proof dry shampoo -
How about flowers and a pound of a nice, local coffee?

I got a really cute chew beads necklace and now that is my go to present for new mamas... Everyone seems to like it!

For baby, one of those mini stuffed animals attached to a pacifier. For mama, maybe a gift card to a coffee place or for a pedicure.

How new of a mom is she? Is she new enough that her registry would still be up? Granted, you would have to do some searching to find out where it is.

If it's someone not local I'll do a local food item and a giftcard to somewhere generic. Or you can look up a local restaurant and get a giftcard for there. Even if they can't go out they can do take-out. I'd probably add a small board book for the baby, or a cute wooden teether maybe.
If it's someone who lives in the same area I usually do a succulent plus a gift card.
