Family is insisting on giving gifts for DD2's 1st birthday even though we need nothing. My mom said she bought her "an obscene amount of spring/summer clothes" so what I was going to tell my siblings is now out. We do not need anything big, but they want to see her "open" something so money for savings account/college fund is out. I suggested books but need others as there are 4 other people to give gifts. Please help for ideas that will not clutter my house. They usually do a $25-40 range.

Would they be willing to go in on one big ticket item? For DD1 I like to steer people to outdoor toys for her birthday. Maybe a playhouse?

@regberadaisy: I thought of this too, but DD1 was SPOILED so we have a playhouse, cozy coupe, battery powered car and four wheeler, water table, bike, ect. We have no room to store anything else! I suggested a train pass for the zoo (we got a membership as our gift) but that's not "exciting to see her open."

Ugh, my in-laws are like that too, its sooooo annoying!!
