Any recommendations for a guitar for a three year old? Something more sophisticated than a toddler toy but durable?

Our music class instructor suggested a ukulele for this age range. The size is great for 3 year old and they can get a lot of the mechanics of the guitar down. They also aren't as pricey as guitars, which is always a plus for this age range!
I think Hape sells a wooden ukulele. I have no experience with it (although it might go on my 3 yo's Christmas list) but I've had great experiences with their other toys and it seems like it would be pretty sturdy!

It's durable, holds a tune, and gets "played" every day. -
My mom got DD a ukelele. It came with a shoulder strap and pegs pre-installed, along with a tuner, which is really convenient.
