(dovetailing off the previous CD thread)
I never had success with my son and CDing but I'm gonna try again. My son is 3 weeks and pretty much every 30 minutes has a small mustard poop so the diapers are getting out of control.
In my arsenal: I have Alva pockets, Thirsties AIO, a few BumGenius covers, bamboo, cotton, floursack towels. I use Tide powder in my front loader. And a toilet sprayer.
FWIW, My kids have EXTREMELY loose stool, I think that's why CDing was such a shit show (literally).
Any tips for CDing a newborn? I don't even know how to fold for him (9 lbs).

There are hacks to fold down the full size diapers into newborn size. Are you part of Fluff Love on facebook? They have TONS of advice and grphics to help with diaper folds, hacks, etc.
Is he breastfed or formula fed? If he's 100% breast, there is no need to spray.
We didn't start CDing until about 8 weeks, but when we did, I stuck to a very strict diaper laundry schedule. No matter what, the diapers were washed on Tuesday and Friday. Everything else in the house could go to hell, but diapers were done and clean!

@jennlin821: good call about the FB site, yes I am a member! And that's right, I forgot I don't need to spray the EBF poops. His poops stain everything terribly so I will have to throw all the inserts out when I'm done I guess ?

For the stains, don't worry! EBF often stains, but that doesn't mean they are not clean. You can stick them in the sun, and the stains fade away. (I swear!) -
My tips for newborn poop is to accept every cover may need to be washed.
What I did for R is use a trifold of a prefold or towel inside a cover. I would use pockets like a cover until the poop got a little less frequent. We totally kept it as simple as possible because I was overwhelmed. This is the fold I used: http://www.zephyrhillblog.com/2013/01/using-flat-diapers-for-a-newborn/
I found that as long as all of the cloth was inside of the cover we were good to go. There wouldn't be blow outs.
I started using my Alvas around 11 lbs. But R has skinny legs. Poop would slide out the leg holes.

We use Viva paper towels (VERY soft, cloth feeling) as disposable liners, which might take care of the "poop" factor for you. We keep a container of grocery store plastic bags on the diaper table, and when there's poop, we pick up the poopy liner using the plastic bag around our hands - like I imagine dog owners do for their dogs? Then I throw it away in our diaper genie, and the diaper goes in the wet bag to be washed later. IF it's a really messy diaper, I wipe it down with wipes, too.

I had two kids with crazy loose stools... Definitely the driving force in potty training early.
I took a yard of micro fleece (not polar fleece- it has to be micro) and cut them down to liner size. We laid that over the prefold. I've always just used a newspaper fold (fold in thirds then fold down the front a bit to fit in the diaper) with a prefold in a cover. So layer everything into the cover- prefold+ like then snap it on like any other diaper.
The liners caught most of the poop. If it was a trickle I could just change the liner and not the whole diaper. If it was a lot I would dunk the liner in the toilet and then throw it in with the diapers. The liners never stained because they are fleece!

@pachamama: just use the flour sack towels. If you're going to buy anything, I'd get some used green mountain diapers prefolds. We used the newborn until 13 pounds and you could probably make the yellow size fit now to get more use out of them. I stuff my pockets with the outgrown ones.
