I think I would've been up to it, though too much walking made me bleed more until about a month PP.

I had a c-section and physically I think I was fine by that point. I stopped taking the percocet they prescribed well before my 2 week appointment, so by 3 I think I was pretty good.

But mentally - taking care of a newborn for the first time was exhausting. I was working on 2-3 hour stretches of sleep and I struggled to figure when he was crying if he was hungry and when he was just crying. So I was constantly trying to figure out what he wanted, which was hard.

I had one kid, vaginal birth, tore and got cut, but healed surprisingly well! The thing that caught me off guard were my sore muscles instead of vag pain. I pushed for 2 hours so I was SOOO sore I could barely walk! So it was that, and the initial sleep deprivation. I'd absolutely go with someone, and maybe just choose one to go to. Not sure if you plan to BF, but if you do and you'll be away, then you'll need to pump too...

I think I went out without the baby at about 4 weeks and I was fine but I don't think I would have been up for digging around a crowded consignment sale. I had a c section and tough recovery. One of my good friends had twins and one was in the nicu for a couple of weeks. I don't think she was up for leaving the house for quite a bit longer than I was. You could always play it by ear but I wouldn't put any pressure on yourself!

I don't think so. Just feeding alone is enough to keep a new mom in the house forever! By the time they finish eating, it's almost time to eat again...

I am three weeks post partum this week, and it's a bit of a mixed bag. I'm not feeling dizzy and shaky like I was last week, but I certainly don't have all of my strength back. I had a natural birth, and I'm healed for the most part, so it's totally possible. Nursing is going quite well, and my baby doesn't feed that often during the day, but I still couldn't easily leave for 3 or 4 hours. I don't pump, but I doubt I'd have a big stash and have perfected bottle feeding even if I did.

Also, this is my second child, so everything is just much easier. If it was my first, and twins??? I wouldn't plan anything, honestly. You may have it all figured out at that point, or you may still be totally deep in it. I wouldn't plan on it, honestly. If it works out, fun, but it seems unlikely.

When DD1 was three weeks she nursed every 1.5-2 hours got at least a half hour each time. I could probably make it to the parking lot without having to feed her.

I could have done it physically but I would have brought baby for BFing. Since you don't know when the babes are gonna be home, I would set tentative plans but nothing in stone. Anyone you trust to be your proxy?

Agree with others. Physically I would have been fine. Breastfeeding at that stage made outings nearly impossible. Also, sleep deprivation, especially with twins, is no joke.

How far away is the sale? I went to Target at 4 days pp or something because I needed a breather.

I was a zombie. If you could go without the babies, it might be a nice little break for you. Our twin sales are always loud, crowded, with long lines, and no space to maneuver so I'd avoid taking the kids at all costs!

Ha, I moved 2 hours away 3 weeks after my C-section. I think that it would depend how far away the sale is. I say to sign up for it and just make a game time decision regarding how you are feeling. Hope you and the babies are doing well!

Like others have mentioned, physically, I was okay, although slightly still in pain down south. And as @Mrs.Someone: mentioned, extended walking meant more bleeding or periodic rushes of blood.

@bluestriped bee: the hospital grade pumps are great at getting your supply going. I had my emergency C-section and LO ended up in the NICU due to respiratory issues, so I couldn't get over there right away. He only spent 2 days there, but the pump worked really well at getting things started. Everyone is different, but my mom always told me that I would never be able to breastfeed because she couldn't, and by 3 weeks, I was producing 5oz/breast at each pump session. So you never know until you're there!

First time, there was no way I could walk more than 1/4 mile without being in so much pelvic pain (I had bad pelvic separation!), but I went and ran a mile 3 weeks after my 2nd. So it really depends.

@bluestriped bee: Well, my husband and family helped us move, but no moving company. Let's just say that my maternity leave completely sucked since I was in a new area and didn't know anyone! And, my employer thought that I was still in town...

We had a lot of stuff packed up prior to having my DD. She was 10 days late, so I had lots of time

I had a c-section. Physically I FELT fine at 3 weeks. But I was still bleeding pretty extensively and was on restricted movement (so walking around shopping would've been a bad idea). Also breastfeeding takes forever then (at least it did for me). Add two babies into the mix and I don't know how you could possibly find time to go between feeding the babies.

@bluestriped bee: Commenting to follow because I am a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding 3 weeks PP.

I felt fine, but, the baby was eating at least once every 90 minutes, and took 55-65 minutes per feed at that point. So, I never had more than 35 minutes of free time.
