My parents stayed out of most arguments but they always stepped in when things turned physical or if there was a lot of crying involved.

I don't have any siblings, but I had a cousin that I grew up closely with. She even lived with us for a while. When we would get crazy, she would make us hug and say, "I love you. You are my cousin and my friend." Often it would involve laps holding hands (example: we're at the pool, so we would have to walk around the pool holding hands and then do the hug thing every time we got back to the steps) It was so ridiculous and would always make us laugh and make up pretty quickly.

By the time my bro and I were at the age when we would fight my parents were old and cranky. If we disturbed them it didn't matter who the agitator was we both got in trouble. Lol

They made us separate. Typically my mom would take the oldest side and my dad would take the youngest (I'm sure they didn't mean to but that's how it was).
