We bookmarked a bunch of local venues, and check out their websites to see what's going on... we have local blogs where we live that cover kids' events, but they seem to miss a lot of local kid events!
How do you find weekend events to do with your kids?

I recently "retired" (ahem, quit) my job in marketing for our park district, so I always recommend checking out your local park district for activities. Our district offers a lot of free and low cost activities for a variety of interests - sports, music/plays, food-centered, cultural fests, etc. I don't know how park districts work in big cities like NYC though.

There are a couple of local monthly magazine type things that have event info, otherwise just looking at different museum's or gardens event calendars or the calendar on the county or library website. Some meetup groups always have kids events listed too

They're always heavily advertised around here. I'm taking D (and M, by default, lol) to a robotics thing at the local high school today.

We find out everything via local networks:
-3 local listservs
-Joined the e-mail lists of local organizations that have children's events

We get local newsletters in the mail. We also go to a lot of social functions at our church. I also grew up here so I know when all the annual things go on.

i am not that active about weekend events, but plan to be more so in the future. For now, i would go to my local mom's facebook group as they are always posting about stuff going on.

We don't do much yet - we have a zoo membership and will be getting a children's museum membership for her birthday.
