I bought 3 new pairs of summer sandals this year - birkenstock like shoes from old navy, korkease avas with a heel, and dressy sandals that brandy featured today!
Since I live in casual shoes I don't need new shoes that often (flip flops/sandals/sneakers last forever), but I usually buy at least a new boot and sandal each year. And a couple more. 
How often do you buy new shoes?

hmmm often. Whenever I see shoes I like and marginally need, I get them.

@Mrs. Bee: sounds similar to me! i buy pretty things here and there, but every year I get new running shoes. every other year for hiking/more outdoorsy shoes.

Before kids - often. Post kids - barely. My feet grow with each pregnancy. I probably grew out of 25+ pairs of shoes. I'm waiting until I'm done having babies to replenish. For now I just buy maybe 2 pairs a season.

Very rarely. I usually buy nice shoes that I expect to last several years. I also don't really buy trendy shoes, so they don't go out of style. I buy shoes as I need them, rarely on a whim. I bought new sneakers this spring because my previous pair was 4 yo and falling apart. I bought new sandals too so I could have another color. Since I bought new boots last fall, I don't foresee needing any more new shoes for more than a year.

I think I get 3-5 a year.
So far this year I've bought two pairs of sandals and was given a pair of NB for J. Crew sneakers for mothers day.
I'll probably get a pair of boots in the fall and maybe a pair of heeled booties.

Barely ever. I like hard-wearing, comfy shoes that I can wear with just about anything. My dream is to be able to own only 2 pairs of shoes, like my husband

Pretty much never! I try to boy quality shoes that really last. I'd like to get a couple this year...
@miramira: I'm actually like that! I have some Frye boots I wear year round and then some sandals! Attempted minimalist.

When ever I find a great deal on it, any kind. Could be 5 a season, could go a year or two without buying a specific type.
