Never been but have thought about doing it

I go annually. Two years ago I had an atypical (not cancer but cells are changing) mole removed and then last year I had THREE more! I'm pregnant now but already have a few I want to show them in the fall after I deliver. ugh. former tanning bed user here.

I have had skin cancer twice at 21 and 25, and a few precancerous spots, so I actually go get checked twice per year.

I say if you're nervous about it, its new or different--get it checked.

About every 3 years, but I'm missing a year since I'm pregnant. I want them to remove a few moles that are bothering me, and they can't use the numbing medication while I'm pregnant.

I go once a year. But I had skin cancer at 26.

I haven't, but DH goes regularly to have his moles checked, etc. He had several of them removed and biopsied this year.

@NovBaby1112: go now!! Those are the reasons I got cancer. The good news is now I am really careful with my skin since then and it looks great, like better than when I was 25.

I've only gone once, but I just read something in Health magazine about doing self-checks every month, marking anything new or different on a "body map" so you can track any changes. Seemed like a good enough idea but don't know how many people actually do this.

I go every two years, which is my derm's recommendation for me (he would make different recommendations for other people based on their specific situations). But if I notice anything weird or different, I'm supposed to call and make an appointment sooner.

I went last year after a mysterious bump and now I'm going to try to go every year. I have a family history of melanoma.

My MIL had skin cancer, so my DH is genetically more at risk, and he has moles / marks EVERYWHERE.... he only goes once a year He should go at least twice a year. He's had two moles removed.

Wow. I have never heard of this. So I go..um...never. My husband has asked a doc about a couple of moles and had one removed and checked, but has never had a regular 'check' suggested.
Any Canadian Bees do this?

I've never been, but need to go--DH is on me to have a mole removed on my chest that I got as result of tanning. It freaks me out to have it removed though!

@NovBaby1112: Yeah, luckily it was caught really early (they called it stage 0), but it scared everyone in my life enough that they all went for skin checks. Even my OBs! I am a big fan of the dermatologist. Good luck!

@2PeasinaPod: I've also had the numbing medication a few times during pregnancy. There's a certain one they need to use, but it's considered totally safe.

Annually. My brother was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma and seeing what he has been through would make anyone want to get checked.
