Thank you for the reminder! I should go -- I spent a lot of time in the sun in my youth and didn't practice good sun protection

I've only gotten full body checks by a derm twice, and I think that was w/in the past 4 years. This past year at my regular physical I asked the doctor to look at a couple spots and tell me if she thought I should have them checked at the derm but she said they were fine.
Every time I go I'm absolutely convinced they'll tell me I need to have at least a few moles removed and checked, but each one I've been worried about I've been told is fine. I was also told they wouldn't remove any moles as "prevention."
Lots of skin cancer in my family, so I'm paranoid.

@youboots: Is it bad if there's something scab-like that comes off and grows back...?

@IRunForFun: yes. Mine was skin colored but the size of a mole and scaly- right next to my eyebrow. But they can be any color. The cut out a chunk of skin the size of a pea and I barely have a scar.

This is what I had, the photos make it look big and scary and obvious, but mine was none of those things. http://www.skincancer.org/skin-cancer-information/squamous-cell-carcinoma
