I felt inspired tonight and tackled the instruction manual for my breast pump (Medela Double Advanced) and learned how to put it all together and use it and whatnot. The manual said to wash the parts every time you pump and sanitize in boiling water once daily.
Do you really sanitize it every single day?

I wash daily, but don't sterilize...I'm only using it max twice a day though.

I washed with hot soapy water and sanitized nightly.
I have a munchkin sterilizer.

For my parts I keep at home I sanitize once a week. For the ones I keep at work I sanitize daily in the morning. I keep the at home parts in the fridge but at work I have them in the tote on my desk.

I did every single day and it was exhausting, but I couldn't skip the boiling part. I felt like I was missing an important step and felt guilty, but that's just me. Do what works for you!

i used to only sanitize like once a week, but then got in the habit of using my avent sterilizer and now it gets sterilized every time i use it, same with every bottle. it just became an easy habit. i wash the parts, put them in the sterilizer rather than drying rack and pop it in the microwave when full. though i don't pump every day AND DH helps with this so it doesn't feel like a lot of work.

I run them through the dishwasher every other night if that counts as sanitizing?

Wow, no, I sterilized it once and that was it. I usually wash with hot soapy water at work and then 1-2x per week I take the parts home and run them parts through the dishwasher. LO has never really had any GI issues, except a little bit during the week after the rotovirus vaccine. I don't think she's ever gotten sick from non-sanitized pump parts. If I had a preemie or NICU baby, then yes, maybe I'd sterilize more.

Not at all. I usually stick them in the bottle sterilizer about 1x a month or after things have been sitting out longer than they should/they look grungy. I usually only pump 1x a day (if that) though.

Everyday- but I have the steam sterilize bags for the microwave and they are super easy to use!

A couple of times a week, but I don't pump very often. Just remember, boiling those parts and pacis helps keep thrush away! I tell myself that when I don't feel like doing it.

Haha no, but I'm lazy. I sterilize everything once or twice a month. Maybe gross since I pump 3-4 times a day, buuuut I wash everything in hot, soapy water every night so I feel like that's enough.

I sanitized once and washed/threw in the dishwasher.
