I am so sorry for this ongoing awfulness (that's the best way I can think to describe it). I cannot imagine what you, your kids, and his family are going through. Sending lots of prayers your way.

Wanted to pop in to say that you and your husband are still in my prayers. I hope he takes a turn for the better soon, and he starts his slow process of healing.

Thank you all for the support, it really does mean a lot to me. He was moved out of the ICU today to make room for the shooting victims, which while I completely understand why I can't help but worry since there isn't as much attention given to each patient on the floor. God that sounds horribly selfish.

@SwanSong: I'm so sorry this has to add to your worries. Obviously you want your DH to get the best care possible. You and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

@SwanSong: not selfish at all! Of course you want to know he's being taken care of. Are there any nurses who regularly take care of him? Just from personal experience I think they get "attached" to their patients and will look out for them.

@SwanSong: hey there - I just wanted to check in and see if you had any updates/if your husband has made any progress?

@mediagirl: yes! Ive been so busy and keep meaning to update. I went down again this past weekend and took the boys (luckily my sister came with me to help out). It looks like he may have finally turned a corner, we are both feeling cautiously optimistic. He is on a soft food diet, has put some weight back on (he was down 35 pounds but up again by 15). Infection control seems to think all his infections have cleared, both the antibiotic resistant E Coli and the C. Diff, but they are obviously having him finish out the regimen for both. He goes in tomorrow to have the stent removed, then they will keep him for observation over the weekend, if all goes well he could be home by the middle of next week. Fingers crossed.

While we were down there we did a little cupcake smash since out youngest will be one tomorrow and little levity was needed.

@littlejoy: I feel so bad about not updating sooner, between work(which is nuts since I work at a large university and Spring term is starting), travel and the boys I am just beat at the end of the day.
