Does it mean ovulation is more likely to happen sooner than 24-48hrs? As in is the surge happening now? This is my first cycle using them postpartum (about 14 months postpartum), and I finally got a positive just now on cd 18, after work with a 2 hr hold. I wasn't able to test earlier today at work at all. The test line immediately came up and is super dark. Previously, it's been so light and wimpy. I've never had a positive that dark when previously TTC. Does it mean I'm in the middle of the surge or something?

@oliviaoblivia: LOL! It's definitely on the agenda for this evening once lo goes to sleep! I'm trying to gauge if O day is today or tomorrow. I always o'ed cd 17 previously. Cd 18-19 seems so late when I already have a short lp.

The only way to know for sure is an ultrasound. Charting will help narrow it down. I'm convinced I always ovulated at 17.5 days.

@dc yoga bee: I bet it's tomorrow. I usually get one strong day of positive, ovulate the next day, then it fades back out.

Last month I had 2 days of positive OPK (1 day dark and 1 day was a little darker). I ovulated about a day later. We couldn't bd until a few days later and didn't conceive that month.
I think you will ovulate within the next 24 hours.

@dc yoga bee: If O day was today you wouldn't have gotten a positive OPK. The surge happens before O day! I believe its 24-48 hours before. So do the deed tonight and maybe tomorrow to be safe

I think you could have caught any part of the surge. I'd have sex the next three nights to cover your bases
