I recently came across a job positing I might be interested in applying for but want more details about the position. It said in the posting if interested in applying to send a resume and cover letter. Would it be off-putting to ask questions to the email provided about the position before sending a cover letter and resume??

I think its perfectly fine to send an email saying you had some follow up questions about the position and you didn't want to waste the company's time by submitting an application until you understood the position in full. Am I remembering correctly that you are pregnant? That would be my bigger hesitation on applying for a new job (not being eligible for maternity leave, not having immediate access to benefits, etc).

@Truth Bombs: Yes! And I would be totally transparent about that when inquiring. That's my main purpose in the email is knowing the position entails more considering I am due at the beginning of school starting.

I would just apply. When we hire at my org, we don't want to spend time answering a bunch of questions from applicants we may not be interested in interviewing anyway.
I would not disclose a pregnancy until I got an offer.

@Finfan: I agree. I would submit the application and if they call to schedule an interview, I would ask those questions then.

As a person who does hiring, I wouldn't take the time to answer questions unless I had seen a resume and was interested in moving forward with a candidate.

Agree with finfan and mommyfinger, I would just apply. There will be space in the interview for you to ask questions about the position. And also agree I would not disclose the pregnancy until after you start the job. Good luck!
