Like, if they use open cups only do you also use open cups only?

If they don't allow carrying, do you carry into places on the weekend?

Personally I think montessori is a beautiful thing but I'm not worried about LO using a straw cup on the weekend. He uses a jelly jar at home fairly frequently (this is primarily due to laziness as I hate washing his straw cups) so he's ok with one but we do use a straw cup a lot too. As for carrying I really don't have a philosophy on this. I understand why they do it, but for me it isn't something I'm passionate about bringing into our life outside of school. Sometimes I carry him.

He is just starting so I guess this is something we will decide on a case by case basis. My feeling TBH is that our life is less 'perfect' than montessori. I like the structure of montessori and am thankful he gets exposed to the ideas in an environment that is created and staffed for the purpose, but home is just more chaotic and less centered on LO, more centered on us as a family and our needs/limits. I don't think we have to always be in montessori mode at home in order for school to be a good experience for the child. But then again I am not trained so what do I know? Lol! I just know my own limits as a mom.
