My son's skin breaks out like crazy as soon as it gets warmer out. And he sweats so easily, so that doesn't help. We have found that a combo of Aveeno Eczema lotion and hydrocortisone cream a few times a day helps, plus we will do Aveeno oatmeal baths every other night. We try to limit sunscreen as much as possible, which stinks cause he likes to be outside all the time.

@daniellemybelle: Sunscreen made my LOs waaaay worse. It was especially bad if we skipped a bath in the evening and didn't wash it off.

@daniellemybelle: I just found this out too. I also just found out that they make a hair/bodywash (called free and clear) and an ointment (Vaniply). I want to try the ointment because I loathe aquaphor and it isn't helping anyway. I read the ointment differs from aquaphor in that it is lanolin and petroleum free.

@daniellemybelle: Sunscreen totally makes it worse. We've stuck to the Babyganics brand the past two summers and it doesn't seem to irritate as much as other brands we tried. Basically his eczema won't go away until the fall and then we have to deal with the ultra dry skin in the winter. Never-ending! I've been trying to switch over to more natural stuff (we were using Yes to Carrots lotion) but nothing seems to just clear it up altogether. His doctor is hoping he'll grow out of it as my husband and I don't have any skin issues.

i know, i was surprised also that LO's eczema came back with the warm weather. we've been using burnout sunscreen and a thinksport one--they don't seem to irritate it the condition. he is especially itchy after a bath (even if we just use water or california baby) and in the morning. we use cetaphil cream, and something i got on etsy that has shea butter and coconut oil (the latter is greasy so i use it on patches at night, or more often if the eczema is getting bad).

Does anyone else's LO have issues with hypopigmentation after eczema flare ups? My LO is kind of a lighter brown color and her legs have all these patches of white/lighter pink skin from her previous eczema flares. They look pretty bad when she wears shorts.

Neither DH nor I have ever had issues with eczema, so we don't know if there's anything we can do for the hypopigmentation!

For the eczema itself, avoiding dairy has helped and we also use the Mustela eczema cream, hydrocortizone, and Cerave as needed and that's been doing the trick.

@anbanan15: So far they haven't gone away and it's been a few months...they may have faded a bit. It's hard to tell.

eta: but only on the back of her legs, under her butt--which is where she has/had the worst eczema.

I just found out my baby has eczema today. I've been researching a lot on things to try for her poor skin. I have noticed when she gets hot and sweat like from having her head lay on us it gets red and more irritated.

@Anagram: I did read today that that can happen once it clears up.
