If your workplace differentiates your PTO into different categories, like vacation, sick, personal, whatever, what category would you put this in?

I had a UTI last week and finished a course of antibiotics. But the pills made me super, super nauseous and on days 2-4, I only took 1 a day instead of 2, but then I went back to 2 pills a day and finished all of them. (I know, dumb, but I was miserably nauseous and still had to work and care for two kids).

But as of last night, my symptoms are coming back. I called this morning and my GYN said she could fit me in this afternoon or tomorrow morning at 10 am. Since it's Halloween and we have a packed schedule tonight--TOT with friends, town parade, I took the appt tomorrow.

I'm going to take a sick day. I work 8-3, and a 10 am appt guarantees I won't be out till 11:30 or so because my office is notoriously terrible about wait time. Then an hour commute puts me at work at 12:30, and to take a half day I have to be there by 11:30. So, I'm just taking the whole day.

But I'm a rule follower and I feel weirdly guilty about taking a sick day. That's dumb though, right? I'm a teacher and haven't had to take any time off this year so far.

I don't want to go to minor emergency because my copay is higher and again, halloween plans with the kids. I'm taking AZO in the meantime so I can hopefully make it till tomorrow.
