I just booked DD's birthday party space in December! I think I'm going to mail out invites the first week of November and RSVP deadline two weeks before her party.
How far in advance do you send out party invites? How many weeks before event do you make your RSVP deadline?

I send out the invite 3 weeks in advance and ask for a RSVP in 2 weeks (which is 1 week before the party).

It all depends - if I'm having it at home, then I have a lot more flexibility about when I get responses, but I still have the RSVP be one week before the event. If I'm having it at a location and THEY need numbers by a certain time, then I'd set the RSVP date to be before that.
And for parties, I usually send invites 4-6 weeks ahead of time, though since your party is in December, I'd probably do it a little earlier since December tends to be a busy time for people!
ETA: So early November to send out invites sounds good to me! And the 2 weeks before the party for the RSVP date sound good as well.

I did 4 weeks in advance which seems to be the norm around here (for kid parties that require a headcount). Most people rsvp'd right away. A few families waited until my "reminder" notice. Day of the party, I got a call from 2 families who couldn't make it (sick LOs).

@dolphin: my LO is a December baby too! We just ordered her invites. Party is first weekend so I will distribute at school and mail the first week of November, and asked for rsvp the weekend prior. The party is just at a park so headcount is not the biggest deal.

I usually send out the invite a month in advance and ask for the rsvp a week in advance, or sometimes I just put RSVP with my email and don't put a date, then I ask those who haven't replied about a week before the party.
