July POAS: 6+ Months...

    Crosspost from IF thread:
I'm in chart hell. I started cabergoline 7/3. I took my temp at a much later time for the two days after (normal, but not the elevated temps that should have been for temping late). Then my temps have plummeted. Temp jumped on CD14, but still it's pretty low. I'm on femara, metformin, and cabergoline. I consistently O CD15 on my own, seem to O CD14 on femara, and have read that cabergoline can make you ovulate sooner. I found a study online that there is a relationship between lower body temperature in rats with stimulating Dopamine receptors (what cabergoline does). I'm trying to figure out whether I O'd CD13 (what I think but might be trying to convince myself) vs. having an anovulatory cycle. Please help!

Here are the charts as is, and one with a few wonky temps excuses.

@AmeliaBedilia: Wow, I feel your pain - those charts are really unclear. I'm tempted to say you haven't ovulated yet, but it's odd you'd have a delay. Are you using OPKs or tracking CM?

  4. AmeliaBedilia

    nectarine / 2192 posts

@ms.line: no OPK. I've never had great CM, but it seemed to be more CD12-14.

I'm out. It's been a hard week. I was kind of hoping I would have better news since we spent the week before with one of our dogs at the vet because he was run over and then in the end we had to put him down (one of the hardest days ever) and work was especially stressful. Unfortunately all signs were pointing to AF anyway so I wasn't as bummed but still sucky.
The one good thing is that I booked the appt for my tattoo for the end of Sept so if I'm not KU before I have that to look forward to.

@HellOnHeels: I'm SO sorry about your dog and AF showing! What a icky week

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm not sure about your chart or if you ovulated, but definitely see the rise around CD13. Perhaps, you need a few more days of charting to see.

I had my day 12 ultrasound on Saturday, with two follicles at 14 and one at 11, so they want me to go in again today to see how they are doing. I understand, but it's really hard forking over $589 for an ultrasound each time I need one. ugh.

    nectarine / 2192 posts

@HellOnHeels: so sorry for your loss. Good thinking to have something to look forward to as a consolation. What is the tatoo going to be?

Temp a little higher. It might be my thermometer, and might be that Cabergoline is lowering my temps. DH and I think I O'd cd13, which would be great since our timing is good for that, and it means less time to wait.

I'm SO frustrated and this whole process makes it difficult to remain stress free. I need to have an ultrasound today to check my follicle sizing/count for an IUI; however, my RE is over 2 hours away. So, I have to do the ultrasound locally. BUT, they can't get me in until 3:15 and the nurses leave my RE at 4pm. So, it's unknown if they will get the results in time and whether I'll have my instructions for trigger, IUI, etc. or if I'll miss it all together. Feeling defeated..

@NorthStar: What horrible timing! Fingers crossed everything will go quickly and the nurses will get the results in time and get information to you.

I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative but also no AF. I O'd late so maybe my period is just going to come a lot later, but FF adjusted POAS day to today. Guess I'll wait a few more days and see.

@AmeliaBedilia: I hope you're right! I would keep trying to BD just in case Do you want me to add you to the POAS list?

We really need some BFPs this month

As for me, I am 8dpo and headed across the country for work tomorrow, boo. I am trying to decide whether I want to sneak a test in on Friday before I come home, or wait until AF is past due... I swore last month I would stop testing early but the instinct is strong!!!

Good luck to everyone still POAS this month and to anyone getting testing to get some answers!!

@sslm: praying for BFP for you!!!!

  20. AmeliaBedilia

    nectarine / 2192 posts

@sslm: I'd wait until I was home. If BFN, you'll be alone. If BFP, you can tell the news in person. As for my POAS date, I'm not sure with the questionable O date, and I expect femara and cabergoline to lengthen LP. I'm guessing AF will come 7/24, so I'd say 7/25, but I will be at a work meeting all day. Probably 7/26 if I make it that far.

Well, I just had another ultrasound to check follicles and I had three measurable ones that shrunk from Saturday. How does that even happen?! Someone mentioned that maybe the follicles from Saturday dropped off and these other ones are rising to be the ones that will release. I also started CoQ10 a month or so ago and someone mentioned that could delay ovulation. I'm not showing symptoms of ovulating and I'm on CD14, which I typically ovulate on.

This is so odd..I suppose that I just need to trust my body? Has anyone experienced this?

  22. AmeliaBedilia

    nectarine / 2192 posts

@NorthStar: That is so frustrating! I haven't noticed a change in my O date since starting CoQ10. I hope you O soon.

  23. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@AmeliaBedilia: I know! I am SO normal, in most of my cycles, so this is completely odd to me.

I heard from my RE's office and they are putting me on 100mg of Clomid from CD 14-18 and then another ultrasound in a week (next Monday) to see when I should trigger. Isn't this an odd protocol? I'll cover my bases and make sure we do lot of BD before then, but I've never heard of doing Clomid mid-cycle (especially, when my cycles are always 28-29 days).

  24. AmeliaBedilia

    nectarine / 2192 posts

@NorthStar: I haven't heard of that, but that doesn't mean it won't work.

  25. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm just nervous about ovulating and not getting a chance to do the IUI. But, I suppose that I should be thankful for the monitoring and help of the RE to get things moving along.

@LoveHope: It's great that your acupuncture appointment went well. I hope it does great things for you.
@HellOnHeels: I'm so sorry about your AF and your dog. That is rough.
@NorthStar: I'm sorry about the bad timing.
@NorthStar: My O date hasn't been delyed since taking CoQ10. My O date did move up, but I'm not sure if it was the CoQ10 or the acupuncture.

I'm still waiting to O, I think. I'm not using OPK's this month and I'm just relying on temping. Last time I did that I went crazy. So lets hope that I O on time.

@HellOnHeels: So sorry to hear about your loss. You are in my thoughts!

@NorthStar: I'm sorry this cycle has been so frustrating. I hope things improve and the timing works out for a successful IUI. Thinking good thoughts!

@KittySunshine: Hope you get some answers soon, one way or another. The wait is the worst! Hang in there!

@sslm: I'm not an early tester myself, so I'm a bad one to ask. Good luck with whatever you choose and hope it's a BFP!!!

@AmeliaBedilia: I've had wacky charts in past months all due to my thermometer. All of the other O signs were there (my body makes it super obvious!), even though my chart looked bad. Sure enough, AF arrived on time based on that, not my app. Other months it's all corresponded. Your timing sounded great this month, but if you aren't sure you've O'd yet, I keep up the BD-ing. Good luck!

@auggiefrog: good luck! Hope you O on time!

AFM, AF finally arrived a full 4 days late, thanks to int'l travel and jet lag. I actually O'd late while on vacation and it made for some great BD timing. So yesterday I started to have some tentative thoughts about actually testing and decided to test today, if AF didn't arrive. Well, she showed up! At least I didn't waste any tests and see that blank white negative again.

So this will be our last natural cycle, then on to IVF in August (starting with BCPs around mid-month with my next CD1). I'll cheer from you all from the sidelines and look forward to jumping back in when we have a chance to test!

    Good luck to all!

@Amorini: I'm sorry to hear that AF arrived, but I really hope that your IVF cycle will be what you need to get your BFP.

I had a bit of a temp rise this morning, so I think I O'd yesterday. I didn't use OPK's this month like I normally do, so until my temps confirm O, it's a bit of a guessing game. If I did, we had great timing with BD every 36-ish hours between O-4 and O-1, and then O.

My RE just called. Labs are a disaster. My natural killer cells are 34%, normal is under 10%. AMH is 0.2, prolactin slightly elevated and TSH 2.7. He wants me to continue I Cabergoline for the prolactin, start synthroid, and do prednisone for implantation. He wants to recheck AMH. I am completely flipping out.

I am out. I heard AF being called "the witch" on another website and I think the term is appropriate.

I have one more month to try before my OB appointment and I keep going back and forth as to whether or not to contact the RE. They encourage couples who have been trying for 12 months to contact them, except in some cases of specific cases like no periods, irregular periods, trying with another partner before and no luck or being 38 or older. I'd fall into the irregular period category, but not sure whether I should try to pursue it further or start some testing at the OB and see where it goes.

I am with SSLM and am hoping someone gets a BFP for July.

@KittySunshine: I always encourage people to go straight to an RE - they are fertility specialists. Even if you start with some testing at your OB, your RE will re-run those tests if you end up there.
