    @LoveHope: my two cents is that doesn't hurt to get the testing done. then, when you have your appointment with your RE, you have all of the facts and can make a better game plan going forward. An RE would very likely have you do the AMH test anyway..depending upon what you day you are on now, then you wouldn't miss a cycle.

    @AmeliaBedilia: I know how you feel. Waiting for your test results could feel like an eternity. I was obsessed. I'm sure you'll have the results in no time.

    @NorthStar: thanks. I completely agree. I rather knock the test out of the way since I have to wait another week to see him.

    @LoveHope: Good luck! As much as it sucks (believe me, I know), it's good to get the tests out of the way, even if they come back normal.

    Ladies - have you heard the podcast 'Beat Infertility'? I've been listening to it the last few weeks and it's been great and lots of information.

    @NorthStar: I haven't heard it but I will defintely look into it. Thanks!

    Does anyone on here do acupuncture? How do you feel? I'm trying it for the first time tomorrow and I'm on CD4. Is there a specific time I should go during my cycle?

  9. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

    @LoveHope: I do! I actually go weekly as the lady I see specializes in fertility, so she knows where to do it based on the day of my cycle. I also listen to the Circle and Bloom meditations while I am laying there (different ones for each day of cycle).

    I've been going since November and granted I haven't had a BFP yet, but it's SO relaxing and I look forward to it!! I can definitely tell the difference when I miss a week and my pressure points are much more sensitive on those weeks. Plus, it's just nice to have 45 minutes to focus on myself and treat myself to this quiet time.

    I am sure that you will like it! enjoy

    @NorthStar: thanks! I'm looking forward to it! We'll see what happens. Do you feel any pain at first?

  11. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

    @LoveHope: No, not really. For a few needles, I can feel it, but then the sting goes away and I don't feel a thing. She also does cupping and that actually feels pretty cool when she does those (like today )

    @LoveHope: I have been going to acupuncture since March, and definitely recommend it. For the first three months I went weekly, and now I am going every other week. Since I started I have consistently Oed earlier (CD14 instead of CD17,) my period has been longer and thinner, and have had at least two CP's,(much better then my track record before accupuncture) but a keeper has got to be close.

    @auggiefrog: I have my fingers crossed for you that your keeper is really close. Id love to do acupuncture. I need my O date to be sooner. I'm sick of it always being different and consistently past Cd20.

    Well I'm out. This has been a Rollercoaster week for me with every symptom in the book. I'm really gutted this time, we've all been there. My only saving grace is that my LP increased by a good 3 days. I'm scared that my D&E in December has done something to my body and I can't conceive again. I may have to go speak to a doctor. I'm not sure about TTC this month. I have a bad track record with April EDDs. I feel a bit superstitious.

    @delight: I'm so sorry to hear - it is impressive your LP lengthened by so long though - maybe a good sign that your body is getting back on track after the D&E. It certainly couldn't hurt to talk to a doctor, but your body may just be taking a while to heal.

    I'm out - negative blood test today, just waiting for AF to show. Of course it's late when I just want to start the ivf process!

    @delight: thanks. Sorry about AF. FX you get your sticky soon.

    I had my doctors appointment with an OBGYN on Tuesday. She was nice, and would be a great OB if I wasn't having problems. She pretty much said that because I've conceived three times in the last year I'm not really considered infertile, and because all of my losses were before 7 weeks it wasn't RPL. So no tests for me. I was kind of sad about that all week, but I've been feeling better. I'm going to give it three more months before getting a second opinion.

    @2farmmoms: Good luck!

    @mrskrb: I'm sorry to hear.

    @auggiefrog: I actually think that's a really odd, borderline-irresponsible take by your OB/GYN. Having to deal with frequent, repeated losses - even "early" losses - has to be terribly emotionally and mentally taxing. If your issues are beyond her scope of expertise, she should have referred you to an RE. Sorry if I come across as harsh, I just think the medical establishment dismisses women really easily, and there is no harm in doing testing and learning more about what may (or may not be) a root cause.

    @auggiefrog: my OBGYN is the same way, and it's incredibly frustrating. I'm so sorry you are struggling through this.

    I still think of you all often and hope and pray for bfps!

    @MrsKRB: Thank you! I have a better feeling about this midwife. I really like the other one I used, but she had never done an iui with fresh sperm before so it was hard to feel super comfortable with her. This one seems very experienced. One difference is she's spinning the sperm in the centrifuge for more than twice as long as they did last time. Maybe this will be the key!

  25. Mrs. Turtle

    blogger / pear / 1509 posts

    @auggiefrog: Thank you! And I'm so sorry about your frustrating appointment with your doc. As you've probably read here, I've been through my share of doctors who weren't interested in helping me. I am still struggling with this and am currently using midwives for inseminations. I'm hoping iui will just work and I won't have to worry about finding a fertility clinic willing to help!

    @ms.line: @LoveHope: Thanks you guys! I'm here in the exam room waiting for the sperm to spin. Such a weird experience. My wife couldn't come this time so I'm trying to pass the time.

    @Crystal: Yes! The midwife is in Oakland. I drove down after work (I live 5 hours north). This is why I love midwives. They make the timing work, instead of trying to fit you into their office hours. Such a different approach.

    @MrsKRB: sorry about AF. Lots of positive thoughts for IVF!
    @auggiefrog: I'm also surprised that she won't do any tests. I'm glad that you are going to get a second opinion if nothing happens in the next few cycles. But let's just hope you don't need to do that at all. I hope you get your sticky baby soon.

    @2farmmoms: FX-ed for you!

    @delight: Sorry to hear about AF and that this has been a hard one. It's strange when grief hits you just when you think you've got the hang of this IF thing. Big hugs.

    I am back from my travels and AF was supposed to start yesterday. I feel all the usual pre-AF symptoms and I'm sure the late period is just the effects of jet lag and air travel. Plus I'm super down right now and the last thing I want to see is a BFN, so please please don't ask me to test. Thanks for understanding. We had our RE follow-up just before the trip and have put off making decisions on when and how to start IVF/ICSI until now. I'll be posting over on the IVF board when I get up to it. Having a plan helps and we have been preparing for this course of action for months, but I'm finding that I'm suddenly overwhelmed and terrified.... which, ironically, is a sure sign that AF is about to start.

    Good luck to all!

    I had my first acupuncture appointment yesterday and already feel great. She really explained everything to me in detail. She told me that at the end of your period, you should nourish your uterus by eating red meat. I never heard of that. She also said not to drink ice water. She told me that in the Chinese tradition, women cook black chicken in herbs and drink the broth. This is supposed to help nourish the uterus. She shared a lot of interesting facts with me. Not sure they help but willing to try.

    @AMommyThang: Yea for God timing. Hope you get an anniversary baby!

    DH and I stayed stayed at a friends last night, and the temperature was warm, possible thermometer issues on CD15. Argh! Also, we were both exhausted so missed last night. We did BD the four nights prior, so hopefully that's enough. I still am having lots of side effects with Cabergoline, but feeling hopeful that it's the answer.

    Today is mostly about the kitchen renovation. The slab of our new countertops was 1.5 hours away and we needed to be there at 8am, so We stayed at a friends house last night. We also have an appointment to finalize our kitchen cabinets. I'm dreading it, because the guy has been difficult to work with (too late to change), and I hate making important decisions. But at least it will be done soon, and I am glad we liked the slab for our countertops, which is also cheaper than what we had planned.

    @Crystal: I have friends in the area, so I'm staying with one of them. Kind of a nice mini vacation!
    @delight: @Amorini: Thanks! It went fine. Speculums are always so painful for me, but otherwise it went much smoother than last time. This midwife seemed more experienced. Fingers crossed!

    @2farmmoms: "Speculum" is such a gross and painful-sounding word. Sorry about that. I'm super hopeful for you that this will do it!

    @AmeliaBedilia: I'm pretty sure your four straight days of BD will almost make up for one missed night. Those swimmers hang around for a long time. Sorry about the side effects, but it's a good sign that something is working.

    @MrsKRB: I'm sorry to hear about your negative test. I know it's on to IVF for you and just want to let you know that I'm thinking of you. I can't quite get to the acceptance stage of grief at the moment but it gives me some comfort to know that there are a few of us who will take this next step (almost) together.

    @AMommyThang: Happy Anniversary! And Happy BDing!

    @LoveHope: I love hearing all that you are learning from acupuncture. Please continue to share and best of luck in however you choose to nurture your uterus. May this finally do the trick!

    @auggiefrog: Like others, your OBGYN's thoughts on your multiple early losses perplexes me a bit, but I'm supportive of your strategy to wait a few more cycles if that's what feels best to you.

    @LoveHope: @NorthStar: @auggiefrog: The info about acupuncture sounds interesting. I am actually kind of scared of needles, but it's nice to hear it maybe only stings a bit and it sounds like it's been helpful for you so far! Acupuncture helped my grandfather with his vertigo. This may be something for me to look into.

    @MrsKRB: @delight: Thanks for the encouragement to keep trying and sorry to hear that you both are out for this month.

    Update for me: I am having occasional mild cramps and I always hate having that as a symptom because it's probably meaning AF is on its way. Every time I always end up obsessively looking into implantation cramps with wishful thinking. I'll have to see on Monday.
