@septca: do you think the biopsy will compromise any sperm that are already hanging put up there?

  2. septca

    GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts

@MrsMccarthy: I don't know. I would be concerned about the instruments and any saline washing things out and/or upsetting the pH of my ute. But I would be more worried about the biopsy messing with my lining and hampering implantation. But ask your doctor - she obviously would know way more than me.

    CD: 2
    Cycle #: 18...wow
    TTC #: 1
POAS date: TBD...usually I O around CD20 but this past cycle I O'd a week earlier. So, who knows!
Backstory: SA was normal, HSG was perfectly clear. I for the most part have normalish cycles (LP is a bit short, though). OB wants us to try "naturally" 2-3 months post-HSG. My next step is probably to get CD3 and 7DPO bloodwork done. I probably won't bring this up until September (@ my annual). I'm so "over" TTC that I'm not going to push anything for now. I just want to enjoy my summer. We're looking forward to house hunting late summer/early fall!
June TTC plan/something new you want to try: Nothing new this cycle.
Best thing about your weekend: Nice weather and grilling out!

@Keppa: I'm so sorry... I hope you can make a decision you feel at peace about, and aren't rushed or forced into anything.

@septca: Don't you work crazy hours too?

I am curious to see what all my OBGYN can do before I have to move to an RE. I think I will need a referral before anything can be covered there, if at all.

DH was freaked out about testing at first, and wanted to wait. He has now started more seriously talking about it coming up soon, as opposed to our original agreement of September.

I was ok with waiting, because I felt like the MC and subsequent required waiting period took us out of the game for awhile. Now I am wondering if we *should* wait a little longer, but on the other hand, what can it hurt to test anyways?

@Crystal: Ha ha, *no*. My husband does. I actually have a ton of autonomy in my job - as long as I get the work done there is not a lot of clock-punching, although I do check email at all hours.

((hugs)) Pointless ramblings are what we are here for. My feeling is that testing is worthwhile after you reach a certain point (time is obviously going to vary by the person) - it can be helpful and stress-relieving to check all the boxes. Then you have all the information and can make an informed decision about what's next. I am all about informed decision making.

@septca: To be totally 100% honest, I have always been a planner and want to know everything, but in this case, I am terrified.

What if something is wrong that can't be fixed/we can't afford? What if NOTHING is wrong, and I still can't get KU?

I just want to stick my head in the sand until someone hands me a baby. Which I realize is not helpful at all, nor logical.

It really is better to have the info on hand so we can do whatever is necessary, but I don't think we will be able to afford much out of pocket, and my DH is only comfortable going so far. And adopting is even more expensive. (I realize I am jumping 50 steps ahead, I'm just trying to figure things out)

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@septca: they said we could continue to try no pelvic rest needed. So I guess we are fine?

All went well. The doctor ordered an ultrasound which we will do Tuesday at 4pm because she said that no fibroids were ever found or noted during all of the ultrasounds they took. I was told about them by my NYC OB before we started trying. We did the ultrasound transvaginally then as a part of my full fertility work up. Not sure I'd it made a difference but all my pregnancy ultrasounds were abdominal. Anyway she said she didn't want to do any fertility testing until we fully weaned because if I needed clomid or any drugs they wouldn't want to give them to me whilst nursing. I think I will wait out this cycle and wean starting next cycle. Not looking forward to it but I think it will go okay hopefully. In two weeks we will have a follow up discussing my ultrasound results and going forward. Sadly I found out she won't be delivering babieS anymore which makes me so so so super sad. She is moving to a new clinic which only handles women's gyn. It's kind of a mix of holistic and western medicine. I should get biopsy results Monday.

@nicolechris11212: Thanks for sharing your info. Our family doctor did suggest DH see a urologist because of the 8% morph. But I don't know if he needs to and my obgyn didn't think so. But its good to know we can pursue that option if time goes on. When is your DH's SA? I'm hoping it comes back with great results!

@sapphire: Thanks for sharing your info! How did the progesterone test go? As for HSG, I also don't feel I have any reason to suspect my tubes are blocked. I'm just wanting to do it because... umm... maybe it just seems like the next step?? Hahahah... I feel out of control sometimes on this TTC journey!

@septca: I'm not really "waiting", per se, to get the HSG done. My obgyn just mentioned it as an option at my appointment with her in early May. I said "hell yeah!" So her office is trying to find a way to get my insurance to cover the cost. I go back to them at the end of the week and will see where things stand. I will pay out of pocket if I have to. I know its pricey, but all IVF is even pricier so I don't worry about spending a little bit now.

@Snowdrop: phew!! you just made me breathe a sigh of relief. Okay... and now, forgive me. But please remind me about your BFP! Were you doing IUI or clomid or anything?

  11. septca

    GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts

@MrsMccarthy: That's great news! I am so glad you are being so proactive and getting results. I also have two doctors - my endo doctor stopped being an OB when she had kids. She is now just a pelvic pain specialist, so I see her for my endo issues and early pregnancy stuff. And I see a MW practice (actually part of the same larger, hospital-based practice as my endo doctor) for actual pregnancy stuff.

@Crystal: I totally understand. I was like you until my husband convinced me to see a doctor (because of my pain). Once we had all the tests results, I totally changed my tune. The fact that there *was* a problem changed the whole story. I would never have gotten pregnant on my own. Ever. But I also think having all your tests come back clear can be useful - at least then you can say "there's nothing wrong, so we are going to continue to try on our own for x amount of time." Then you can re-evaluate.

  12. deactivated_account

    GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts

@Keppa: I'm so sorry you are having to contemplate weaning before you are ready. I don't know anything about that, but I"m hoping for the best for you.

@Crystal: I always think that testing is worth while. And if your DH doesn't like it, then maybe just don't mention things to him in terms of TTC. My DH is so oblivious sometimes. I just go get blood work and he doesn't ask the purpose. Or I just say "routine" and he's fine. I try not to hype him up like I hype myself up. I am seriously ready, willing and able to undergo all tests available. I love tests!!!

  13. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@Crystal: I love testing too! I got a full fertility workup before ttc my son and if it had been covred i would have done the same this time. I am kind of a nut but i really like to know as much as i can about what is going on with my body. There are so many variables. Since you did get pregnant that is good news for your tubes at least but even there time can change things. It's nice to know. We will hold your hand through it all. But really my hope is that you will end up pregnant before any of this stuff even comes to fruition. Sometimes the first step is just booking and keeping that appointment somewhere in the future. I am SO glad I went in. Hugs

  15. Snowdrop

@MrsMcD: no I was just on progesterone during my LP. Basically I had really low progesterone results, to low to confirm O even though an US showed I definitely was Oing so the specialist said they would address this first as if it is bad enough it can totally prevent implantation, no CP or anything. BUT often just supplementing progesterone doesn't work as there is an underlying O problem (we were too late to address that on that cycle). This cycle was one of the better ones for me, I'd often have two freak goodish cycles in a row before reverting to O back on day 23+ with little to no fertile CM. So I think the combination of the goodish cycle and progesterone are what got me my bfp. I can post DHs semen analysis if you want? He is quite proud of it

    GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts

@Snowdrop: Thanks for this info! I'm so glad you had a "freak goodish cycle"!! That's awesome. And yes, I would LOVE if you could post his SA results - especially if he is proud of them! Its just so nice to be able to compare and see what other people's results are. I still don't know what a "good" morphology result is. Do some guys out there have 100% morphology??

  17. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@Snowdrop: oh wow! I'm so glad it worked out. When do you ovulate on your "good" cycles? I am curious because it seems I will ovulate on CD 18 this month which is better than CD21 like last month but still not CD15 or 16 like I used to. Perhaps it will all sort out after I wean but my doctor did say cycles change as we get older and I'm getting closer to 40 now.

  18. doxielove

    persimmon / 1388 posts

@MrsMcD: You've peaked my interest in my husband's morphology. I never received a paper copy of the results, I just took notes as my doctor read them to me over the phone. My notes have nothing about morphology...I just have "nice shape." (So scientific...thanks doc *rolls eyes*) I wonder if I can call and request a copy?

Also, I thought I'd update you on my HSG cost. I thought I would *just* get billed $701, but that was just my OB's charge. There were 2 additional claims: 1 from the hospital and 1 from the radiologist. All in all the total was $2790.62. I only owe around $100, though. Nothing was coded as IF testing, it looks like it's coded "surgery."

  19. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@doxielove: holy moly! That's a lot of money! I'm glad you don't have to pay it. If I need another HSG is will come out of pocket. That amount scares me. Maybe I can get a discount for OOP. Good luck this month!

  20. septca

    GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts

@doxielove: Mine was coded simply as "radiology" and I had it at a radiology clinic that works with my doctor's office. I think the total billed cost was $2100. (And @MrsMcD: and @Mrs.McCarthy: don't get scared by these numbers - the amounts billed to insurance are always so much higher than what you pay if you pay OOP - total travesty of the insurance system, but I digress).

  21. Snowdrop

    pear / 1846 posts

@MrsMcD: i'll get it up tomorrow. I don't think morphology is ever very high, sperm is deffo quantity over quality.

@MrsMccarthy: I'd have two cycles together where I'd O round about CD 15-17. The month we conceived it was CD 13 though, I was shocked.

I just got home from the cd 3/21 progesterone test. I totally thought I'd pee on a stick, but she got that needle out, and said which arm. Luckily giving blood doesn't freak me out. She said results should be in in about 4-5 days. Exciting!

    CD: 13
    Cycle #: Month 11
    TTC #: 2
POAS date: 15 June (just a guess)
Backstory: Lo is 20 months old. I was on the depo shot for contraception after lo was born but have had many issues coming off it (last shot was 25 april 2013) mainly bleeding issues. Had an app with a specialist gyno yesterday who said I need to make a choice between dealing with the bleeding or getting pregnant, and I chose getting pregnant. He suggested another 3-5 months of trying before seeing my doctor and getting a referral to the fertility clinic. Had an ultrasound a couple of months ago and everything looked fine. LO1 was concieved while I was on the pill and was a surprise so reaching month 11 of trying for #2 has been hard.

@septca: Thank you! ☺ Oh, well that’s good to know! It was horrible. I didn’t even expect it. I was going in for the ultrasound and the Dr. there told me they were going to try this “newer” procedure for the hystosonogram…but with a new device or something like that…and they told me “you are going to be our guinea pig today”…I did not like that at all! But I went with it thinking “how bad can it be?” I know some people feel comfortable with a male dr….but I feel more comfortable with a female MD…but a young man had to be present (a very good looking young man about my age!) as he was with the company to help the MD and sonographer. EMBARASSING! But he seemed quite knowledgeable of the female anatomy…so whatever! I tried ignoring his presence. But I guess with the balloon catheter they inserted caused me severe cramping and all of a sudden I couldn’t hear anything! I felt very faint and dizzy and a little frightened! I’ve never fainted before but I almost did! I started sweating and they kept saying “hang in there…it’s almost done” and then they all left and I could barely stand to put my clothes back on…I then almost threw up and then after had really bad diarrhea (sorry tmi) at that point they were aware and had me lay down and give me juice and crackers. And to top it off, I couldn’t even drive (I went by myself after work). My mom had to pick me up and the entire rest of the day was horrible. So glad that is over and I don’t think I’ll ever go through that again! And thanks for asking about my house…it's getting there! After we purchased it we gutted the entire thing…my father, father-in-law, and brother-in-laws helped us a lot! We had to build new ceiling beams and floor beams in our living room, knocked down a wall for an open concept. Still has a ways to go but we have a functioning kitchen and bedroom. We have to do smaller projects now such as finish flooring in parts of the house, molding, doors, outside stuff. I don't think we could have done it without our family help! It was very overwhelming as I am not a handy person, haha. But I'm loving my house more and more!

@mrsmcd: I called my DH’s urologist office and the nurse told me his semen volume is good but the motility is “on the lower side”…he goes on 6/6 for his follow-up and the nurse said the MD will discuss everything further. So freaking out a little! We BD’ed during O time 5 days straight…so I’m hoping that may have helped or upped our chances! Please let me know if anyone else’s DH has this and what may has helped in the past to conceive!

I was literally dying!!!!!!! My husband is the one that told him to come over and talk to me about it. I was sure my face was red because I was feeling mega hot. And yeah…it was pretty awkward…especially as I was waiting and sitting there with a drape over my lap with nothing on underneath haha. He walked in and the MD/sonographer introduced him to me and his face was beat red, my face was probably beat red and we could barely make eye contact. If he wasn't so good looking or young it would have been ALRIGHT, haha. I'm soooo glad it's over with!!

Since I've been off HB for several months, I didn't realize there was a 6+ month thread. I'm so glad for this!

    CD: 25
Cycle #: 8 (but Mirena out since Feb 2011)
    TTC #: 2
    POAS date: June 3
Backstory: Our son is 5 1/2. We got PG our first month trying with him. After he was born I was so traumatized by the emergency c-section situation that I insisted on getting the Mirena IUD placed so I wouldn't get PG again for awhile. So I had it in a little less than 2 years. We were NTNP for about a year and a half (and also went through some major family issues that prevented the "trying"). Finally in October 2013 we decided to get down to business (hence the cycle #8). I had the HSG this month and there was no issue with blockage at all. So my hopes are really up this month. I'm turning 34 in June and my son has been praying for a little brother or sister for a LONG time now! It's all in God's hands, I know. So I'll just keep praying and hoping that our family is about to grow!
June TTC plan/something new you want to try: My RE ordered the bloodwork on the certain days of my cycle but I haven't done that yet. I suppose I will do that in June if we aren't successful this month. @Snowdrop : I've wondered many times if I don't have an issue with the implantation part. I know I'm o'ing b/c I've used OPK's but after that it's a mystery... my LP is 14-15 days so the only thing I can think would be progesterone??

I hate that y'all had such a terrible experience with the HSG! Mine was just a tad bit uncomfortable. Really no big deal. Maybe the more blockage or "gunk" that's in there, the more painful... The radiologist did warn me right as he was about to poke the catheter in my cervix that some people came straight off the table while others barely felt it... So I'd say the anxiety of whether or not it would hurt was the worst part!

    Cycle #: 6 / month 8

    TTC #: 1

POAS date: 6/7 (we'll call this my official test day - AF will be late at that point. I will likely test before then, though...)

Backstory: Diagnosed with anovulatory PCOS in March. On round 2 of Clomid, 50mg. DH had SA last month, everything came back normal, but I haven't actually seen numbers.

June TTC plan/something new you want to try: I am 1000 times more relaxed now than I was during the TWW last month, which is the first month we've been trying that I actually had a confirmed O. I'm hoping that will help!
