For our 26 month old helping in the kitchen, we just use the regular two step step stool we already had. (Like this one - http://www.amazon.com/Cosco-11-135CLGG1-Folding-Stool-2-Step/dp/B002AAZGQG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1448464186&sr=8-4&keywords=step+stool)

We were going to get a learning tower, but she does fine with the step stool. It lives in the hall closet and only comes out when she's "helping."

We have a plastic step from Ikea in the bathroom and, yes, she fetches it and brings it into our room/her room so that she can climb up to the window etc. She isn't very steady on it, either, so if she grabs it while I'm not watching her there is a risk of injury, definitely.

My inlaws use a metal stool with two steps when she helps them in the kitchen. It's too heavy for her to move herself but she's not very steady on it so you have to be right there with her if she's "helping" (less help, more hindrance).

I'm going to get a learning tower for her. I'm bidding for one on Ebay as we speak!

I always wanted one but never actually bought one - both kids did fine using a regular stool at the counter

My DH made us a learning tower and it's great. My older DS never used it to get things he shouldn't, however younger DS gets in it and at first we had to worry about him falling and now we worry about him getting into things. Good thing is it is really too heavy for them to move and we have also flipped it upside down so the younger DS can't get into it when we are not supervising. When it is upside down they both like getting under it and using it as a hideout which is fun too.

We also have the Guidecraft one, and DD1 loves it. It does collapse, although we never do because she uses it daily from everything to helping cook to washing hands for meals at the kitchen sink.

We have a learning tower and it took DS a couple months before he really took it. Now, he goes to it immediately when he comes home and asks for his snacks or just to play on/around it. Like he'll take cooking utensils and lie underneath it like he's a mechanic. lol
