I just read today that the popular children's book "Love you Forever" was actually inspired by the author's two stillborn children. The refrain really does fit infant loss/miscarriage:
I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be
I had a hard time reading this book to my children without tears before, but now that I know the true meaning. My goodness.

Whenever E requests this book at bedtime, both of us struggle not to cry through it. E looks at us like we're nuts.

Oh god, this book breaks me every time. The bit where the man sings it to his mother...... it just breaks my heart. I cry every single time (then I feel weird, because the bit where she climbs into her grown up son's window is just plain creepy, and yet I'm still crying at the sentiment!).

I actually just read this for the first time recently and bawled through it! Dylan bawled too...because he flushed his mom's wash down the toilet. He was so sad!

i cry every time i read it. i even started to read it in my chiropractor's office to a few kids and couldn't get through it there either!
