i'm in my FW and last night was the first night we are officially trying! but after it was done i was like hmmmm... what now? what am i supposed to do? he came out of the bathroom and i had my legs in the air and he laughed for like a full minute. anything special you do to make those swimmers swim?!?!?!

I would do this! I would turn around so I could put my feet up against the wall or the headboard of our bed and I'd prop a pillow under my hips to help elevate them and then I'd stay like that for a goo 15 minutes!

ooooh ok so raising my legs wasn't insane! haha. the pillow is a great tip though because elevated hips makes more sense. i'm totally doing it next time

I just don't pee right away and elevate my bum. I have no idea if it actually helps but I did it anyway!

I raise my legs, or at least just lay flat for awhile. I also started using soft cups recently.

I just lay there for 15-30 minutes (usually we'll watch a TV show on my computer). I've read that propping your bum up/putting your legs up doesn't really do anything extra that just lying there does… but it does seem to make sense that it would!

I got my BFP this month and it was the first time that we used the lunaette cup afterwards. DH was the one who made me put it in.

I also started using instead softcups last month. I have no idea if it will help us conceive or not, but I certainly feel a lot less gross in the morning if everything is "contained"

@loki: The lunette is a bit pricey, but can be used for menstruation, as well...time and time again.
You can get cheap soft cups that are disposableish (use for one cycle).

I actually would lay down for a couple minutes max and then get up and go pee. I have gotten UTIs in the past and don't want to tempt fate. I say, whatever helps the swimmers, do it!

Honestly I tried putting my legs in the air for a couple months but the two months I got pregnant, I just fell asleep after BDing and didn't get up to pee for a couple hours. Either that or I made sure to lay there for like a half hour. I think I switch positions too, flipping from back to side a couple times. I was convinced that would help everything get where it needed to go. Who knows!

We tried for almost 2 years and by the end was willing to try about anything to give the swimmers a fighting chance.
So, we started at least finishing in a from behind position (supposed to make it so the swimmers are released closer to the cervix), and then I'd hang out in caterpillar pose (bum up, head down) for a bit, or stand kind of leaning over the side of the bed. No idea if it was the reason things worked., but who knows??

@Sapphiresun: i didn't know that about positions! but it makes sense. i'll have to make some suggestions to DH (trying not to make things too clinical for him juuuust yet). caterpillar pose is supposed to help? like... sitting up, leaning over your knees? is that caterpillar pose? (I just googled and that's what i got)

I've read that sticking your butt up, etc doesn't really actually change the path to the cervix, but lying still can't hurt.

@loki: Yeah, i didn't know what to call it to keep this suitable for work, so when I googled "yoga poses" catepillar looked most similar, but I'm meaning something like this... but you know, more comfy, unless you just really need a stretch afterward. I have no actual research to say it works, but on my 6 months plus thread someone suggested it, and we were all joking about trying it, and all of a sudden there was a slew of pregnancies from people that said they did it... haha.

Definitely lie for 10 minutes before getting up and going to pee, but don't fall asleep and think its a great idea to keep it in all night, you will give yourself cystitis!
Our BFP month we mostly had sex in doggy style position as I'd also heard it was closer to cervix, after 8 months something worked that month! -

@loki: Haha, I totally don't do yoga. I just googled "yoga poses" and a poster came up. Child's pose still looked like it would all trickle out, since bum was down. But yeah... you get the idea!

I don't do anything.
I paid for not peeing right away once or twice with a mean uti...which lead to other let's just call them side effects, which probably seriously decreased our chances the past two months.

Softcups worked for me after a year of being unsuccessful without them! They're not too hard to figure out but I'd practice inserting them a few times ahead of time.

There's gotta be something to laying still for a few minutes.. After my IUIs and IVF embryo transfers, the doctors wanted me to lay still for 5 minutes before getting up. Good luck ladies!

@loki: The month we got a BFP, I stuck a pillow under my butt and laid there for 10-15 minutes before peeing. DH and I laughed the whole time..."you know this is just a placebo, right?!"..."I can't believe people actually think this helps!!!" Silly us...will def do it again with #2

I just laid flat on my belly. I was once told I had a tilted uterus and I heard if you have that to lay like that. Worked for me hsha

thanks for all the tips, ladies. we didn't BD last night so i'm gonna try to find some softcups tonight and try them out! i'll keep you posted
