Watching Three Men and a Baby for the first time in a long time made me realize that my husband actually knows quite a bit about babies. It also made me wonder if men are actually like that. Did parenting come naturally to your other half or were they as clueless as the men on the movie?

My husband has younger siblings and nieces so he was well prepared for our LO.

Btw. What does your LO have on her face and hair? lol. Yogurt? Oatmeal?

@chopsuey119: Well that is always good! I was surprised my husband knew anything because he was always an only child. And that is frosting from her first birthday cake

DH is pretty good with babies.
DS's dad on the other hand was pretty clueless. He knew how to hold him and change him and that was about it... when it came to crying he'd immediately go into "DS must be dying" mode. sigh

My husband did a good amount of research before our LO came, including going to all the childbirth, breastfeeding, newborn care, etc. classses with me. He's all about doing research. I think it also helped that he had to take care of her a lot in the very beginning because I had a very bad tear and didn't want to get out of bed, so he kind of got thrown into it.
Of course being a first time parents we both had our moments, but for the most part he's a natural.

My husband doesn't LIKE babies, but he's good with them - his youngest brother is 9 years his junior (he has 4 younger siblings.) He LOVES teaching infants. Just not at the "Wow! I have hands!/Woo! I can lift my head!" stage. (I didn't like infants before the crawling stage until I became an aunt/godmother. Then I was ALL ABOUT babies. So it's not a problem that he doesn't like them now.)

It remains to be seen if he'll truly be good with them, but he's been a great uncle to our nephews, so I take that as a positive sign.

@Mrs. D: that's how I judged my hubby. I figured he was an awesome uncle and great daddy to our pup, so he should make a good dad. And he did!

My husband had NO clue about babies - he classified them under "cute" or "not cute." But since having LO, he's learned a lot! He's good around all kids, he coos at strangers' babies at the mall, and offers insight when asked his experience. I'm actually impressed.

DH is completely clueless about babies. I'm wondering how he'll be once the little one is here!
@cyndistar3: did you notice that they have a Sophie (the teething giraffe) in that movie? I totally smiled when I saw it.

My husband has never even held a baby. He will have a lot to learn when we conceive and have a LO. I don't see this as a problem though, because we both have to learn and we will be doing it together.

I will have to wait to get the answer to this question until May, I think DH will be a bit lost when we have our baby, luckily I am an NICU nurse, so I am extremely comfortable with newborns. DH kind of avoids them when we are with family/friends, he doesn't like holding other peoples kids, but he does like taking pictures of little kids/babies. I think that once he has a chance to become comfortable with our baby he will be great though!

My husband had never held a newborn and he learned quickly. So not clueless, because he wasn't trying to be!
