Have you had to use a nebulizer on your baby? My baby is sick AGAIN! ugh I feel awful when she is sick. She has cough, sneezing and congestion about a month ago, and now she has the same thing again, if not worse. The doctor gave us a nebulizer for us to take to her daycare and she wants them to use it every few hours. I had asthma as a child, although its much better now and having to use a nebulizer on my baby reminds me of my childhood. I am really hoping that my baby doesnt have or develop asthma.

Aww.. We had to use one as well but just for a short period. It seemed to really help.

@Thehistoryofus: Was it scary for the baby? I know they can be noisy and bit strange for the baby at first. we will use ours on LO for the first time tonight.

@Mrsbells: Hope it went well. A few tips we heard. One was that if they are screaming and crying during the treatment thats not always a bad thing because they are taking in a lot of the medicine (breathing deeply). We also did treatments when she would go down to sleep. One of us would go into her room and held it to her as she slept. It helped so that it didn't get her all worked up right before bed.

@Mrsbells: my niece & nephew were forever sick and were constantly using the nebulizer. My nephew more so than my niece. My nephew has asthma and my brother & SIL are convinced the nebulizer played into his developing asthma.
Not scientific of course but just how they feel. -
Thanks guys. as it turns out, the doctor didnt give us a mask attachment for the nebulizer so it isnt strapped to her face, so we just hold it in front of her face and it is just a saline solution in the nebulizer. So its not much of a big deal. I wasnt there when the doctor gave her the nebulizer, my husband was there and he didnt explain it all in detail.
@regberadaisy: Hmmm do you know what kind of medication their child was getting in the nebulizer? -

My DS has been using a nebulizer daily since he was about 6 months old. He is 28 months old now. He has reactive airway disease from a horrible bout of RSV that basically scarred his lungs. We read books when it’s time for the nebby and use the mask. He cried a few times but they get used to it quickly. He has pulmicort (budesonide) daily and levalbuterol as needed for acute wheezing. The nebby has been instrumental for us in managing his respiratory issues and I’m so glad we have it. Also, he has improved so much as he’s gotten older and we are hoping to wean him off by the summer! Good luck! Hope your LO is better soon!
