Looking for a few book suggestions for my 3yo who will be a big brother in June. I'd love to get him 2 books; something to read now about the baby coming or being in mommy's belly. Then also a book 'from little sister' when baby is here about being a big brother, or how to be a helper with a new baby etc...
I looked on Amazon, but there are a bunch!

We just bought a bunch: Daniel tiger (more about helping out as the brother) One Special Day (a boy learns to be gentle when his new baby comes, really sweet pictures and words) There’s going to be a baby (cute book about the boy wondering what the baby will be like a chef, a ship captain, etc)
I’m also curious what everyone else’s suggestions are!!

He enjoyed reading all of them, but I think the ones I starred had the biggest positive impact.

I found Waiting for Baby by Rachel Fuller was really helpful as a "before the baby comes" book - it talks about painting the baby's room, Mom going to the doctor and needing lots of rest, etc. I think my son was able to relate to it more than the "I'm a big brother" ones before the baby actually arrived.

Not sure how much it helped DS, but it did help us frame how to talk about the baby to him. 'See the baby getting dressed by mom? And look this big boy is getting dressed by himself just like you do!'

I also wanted to recommend getting him a big brother cape off of Amazon. I got this for my nephew when my youngest nephew was born and he looooooooooved it. It made him feel like he had an extra special role.

I got a few books for my son and gave them to him when we told him about my pregnancy about a month before he turned four.
My favorite is "Babies Don't Eat Pizza" which is way more detailed and informative than a typical board book. For instance there is an illustration of a baby in utero attached to a placenta. So he knows the term placenta, and also that our twins are sharing one placenta. This book is also how he learned that babies are born without teeth. (For some reason he thinks this is hilarious.)
Anyway, it might be borderline for a newly minted 3yo but overall I thought it was way more substantive than the other books I got.

This book deals with the struggle of sharing space with a new baby and it's still a favorite in our house (lo1 just turned 3 and lo2 is 18 months)
Send Harry to the Moon
It's not a book, but I love the sibling relationship in the show puffin rock on Netflix. It's super sweet and has helped us talk about being a caring big bother.
