Looking to plan a "last time as an only child family/baby moon" in the early fall to somewhere warm and beachy. Except I forgot about zika...
I looked at the CDC map and the following seem safe (or on the "no longer present list):
- Bahamas (just went Nov. 2016)
- Bermuda (just meh - might not be as warm then)
- Cayman Islands
- St. Barths
Suggestions - either other places to consider (flying from NYC) or sell me on one of the above?

@LindsayInNY: Where did you stay in the Bahamas? I really liked Atlantis. My son was older, but he loved the beach, we had a great time at the kid friendly water area. We didn't leave the resort in the 5 days we were there.

I've been to Grand Cayman but only for a day on a cruise. We really enjoyed it and it's beautiful.
There are a ton of things to do on the island - we went to Stingray City (amazing!) and swam with dolphins as well.

We had a great time in Bermuda! Very clean, friendly people, great “pink” beaches.

Not on your list, and might be a long flight... But Mallorca Spain is somewhere my sister always talks about going. It's beautiful, no Zika, and apparently fall is the best time to go.

@LindsayInNY: I don’t think so, but double check average temps. A lot of people take cruises there in the fall from our area so it must still be at least kind of warm?

@LindsayInNY: I went to Bermuda last year at the very end of October and it was perfect. It was dry, sunny and about 77. Not too hot to lay at the pool or beach. I snorkeled every day. The ocean was nice and warm from the summer still.

As a Floridian I just want to caution you about hurricane season and the activity in October for the caribbean areas. Early October could be quite risky to plan travel, since in the last two years our most major storms have hit in September and early October, but later October is generally okay.
It's best to stick to as far south in the caribbean as you can get during the season, but the zika-free options are limited. I really thought Antigua was in the clear (looked myself earlier this year) but the CDC map now has it high risk.
Anyway - just want to mention hurricanes because they have been much more active later in the season which might not line up with historical info or planning advice you might be seeing online.
2016 had Hurricane Matthew hitting Haiti/Cuba/Bahamas in the first week of October. Then Hurricane Nicole hitting Bermudas late in the second week. In 2017 had a lot of catastrophic activity in September (Hurricanes Irma, Maria) and another tropical storm in late October that affected Cuba.
If you're flying from NYC and the flights are comparable - Spain sounds pretty great

We went to Grand Cayman when or oldest was only 7 months or so.
We actually rented a VRBO condo and it was PERFECTION. It was a great location (shopping necessities and restaurants/fast food walking or short drive), had a pool (which no one ever used but us) and we had a screened in patio overlooking said pool and the ocean in the background. Direct access to the beach. 3 bedrooms and 2.5 or 3 baths (Cant remember). Full kitchen. Washer dryer. It was great and the owner was very responsive.
It’s the only time we didn’t stay at a resort or hotel for a vacation and we truly enjoyed it.

@lindseykaye: Gah, I keep forgetting about that! Honestly, we might keep Europe on mind, depending on price and flight time with DD.
