So, I've been on bedrest for 3.5 weeks after a pre-term labor scare. DH has been awesome - tending to me, caring for me, picking up slack at home, etc. He is a surgery resident and has to work many weekends. His hobby/great joy is fishing. His family has a lakehouse 2 hours from where we live and we often go up on weekends, etc.

Here's the dilemma. He has next weekend off and I'll be 35 weeks pregnant. I know he would love to go fishing but I also know he is nervous about leaving me and feels guilty about it.

My thought is that he should go next weekend because as we get closer to my due date (and when I'm released from bedrest at 36 weeks) I won't want him 2 hours away. I haven't had any increase in contractions since being on bedrest and we have no reason to think I'll go into labor if I stay resting. I want him to be able to enjoy one weekend (or even half a weekend) of down time/fishing before the baby comes.

What would you do in this situation? Is it stupid to tell him to go when it would take him 2 hours (maybe 3, if he is out on the water when I go into labor) to get to the hospital?
